Another good thing to come out of this is that Superior is now offering a "1 pound box". David said a few months ago that he had them working on it specifically for his customers, but I see Superior now offers it on their site, and I just ordered some. It is only 1" smaller in each dimension than their smallest box, but is small enough not to count for dimensional weight. If you use their smallest box that has been available so far, you will pay as though it weighs 2 pounds, even if you send it empty.

Of course, the smaller the box, the more quickly it will heat up or cool down. So you may not want to use it in really extreme weather, especially if the customer is not willing to pick it up at the FedEx office in the morning. But when it is safe to use it, it should cut down on shipping costs.

So whether or not anything continues with Reptster, this new box size can be useful to anyone shipping baby corns in decent weather.

OTOH I wonder how the "free boxes" that I got from Repster are going to be handled now. What about the ones I didn't use to ship through their service when now I can't do so even if I wanted to? Guess they will be charging me for them? It's not that much money but it's the principle of the thing. I will be sure to look into Superior's new box size though...
 
They were just regular Superior boxes. You were supposed to use them for Reptster, since they were supplying them. But if you are unable to use Reptster because they aren't shipping (and won't be shipping snakes for a while, looks like), then probably the most ethical way to handle it is to offer to ship them back to Reptster at their expense. It is probably not worth their while to pay for shipping them back, though. So if they say no, or don't respond, then I don't know why you can't just cover the logo, and use them like any other box.

Sometimes the people themselves are the problem - scammers, thieves, etc. And sometimes good people handle things the wrong way, but will turn around and still be good guys. I don't know all the details in all of these problems. I suspect some were mishandled, but there may have been exaggerations or communication problems. I just don't know. I personally feel now that David will turn out to be a good guy even if he has messed something up previously. But I can't expect anyone else to change their opinion just because of a phone call I had. But give it a while - time will tell. If I am wrong, then I will change my opinion - again.

I so totally agree. I think it's amazing how many great people I've met in this hobby that are so trustworthy.. Easily a higher percentage of 'good guys' than your average swath of folks.

Yes, it is a shame. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt (for a while) because he seemed sincere when the problems first showed up in the BOI, and it seemed like a nice site and interesting idea. But he certainly did not handle his problems very professionally. And from the sound of it, it seems he is finished with his site and all of its members now. If you want to read the details from his ex-mod, go to his site, or to the BOI.
 
Whatta guy! Offers to pawn off the site and business to someone else, knowing full well it's a sinking(or sunk) ship? Yep, a truly great guy! I said it on the BOI and I'll say it here. Anyone who would insist on shipping with repster would not get my business. Maybe David will be out of it, but then again maybe he won't and will just use a frontman. Either way Repster now has a name that I'm sure few will want to associate with.
