Can I see Pictures of your Snake Racks

The heat pads I have found say to use on glass ONLY?

Can you all advise what you suggest for plastic/acrylic etc.?

Thank you!

Fantastically helpful thread:)

Very simple. If you get a rack, you don't need to use heatpads. That is ridiculously expensive for a rack, exceptionally unnecessary, and will kill your electrical bill. Heating is usually built into your rack... all you need is a thermostat. If heating is not supplied, you can usually have the company add it for an extra charge.

For plastic or acrylic tubs, use a heat pad on a thermostat or rheostat.

Great! Thank you very much...
Now that means several snakes in a rack system is actually LESS expensive to keep than the two we have now;)

Those look amazing!!!!!How do hold it all together, with calking?and where do you get all the supplies?Very well done!!!:dancer:

Thanks! I use a product called "Weld On". It's a water-thin adhesive that seeps in between the two joined pieces. As the name implies, the bond is as strong as a weld. I buy from a plastic fabricator outside of Detroit. I fax my order, and pick it up when it's ready. They do a fantastic job; they polish the edges and drill the vent holes for me.

I use Flexwatt for heating. Most heat-pad manufacturers indicate that their products are not for use on plastic or acrylic. I use a quality thermostat, and temps never get hot enough to do any harm - either to my snakes, or the acrylic.

Ikea rack with really useful boxes. This is for the adult/sub adult corns, black milk, tarantulas and a couple of baby dwarf boas/pacific boas.

Custom made display rack/trays for adult dwarf boas, adult baroni and other odds and ends. (xenos, calabar boas etc)

This is the closest thing I have to a rack right now. I might get some AP racks at some point, but this will do for now.

panda, still following this thread? I have a few questions?

Sorry to drudge up an older thread!
panda (or others if you can help?) I really liked your lidless rack using wood shelves and ready rod!!!!! So here are my questions:
Do you use anything on the bottom of the ready rod as a base? I assume you just level bottom shelf then put in containers and tighten for secure top seal?
Using containers from shelf to shelf kept all shelves level and all square?
I assume you used Flex Watt for heating?? Did you use back wall or UTH?
If UTH which is the way I would like to go, did you router channels for heat tape, use spacer boards, or just compress over tape? How tall would you recommend as the limit using this design??
Any help, advice, or problems you ran into that would save me would be a great help.
Like I said this looks like a great racking system!! I hope you take my wanting to copy as a compliment!!
Bill

Ok Please please help! I need to get going ASAP!!!
I want to build a rack like panda has on page 4 of this thread
I can figure the most part out but wonder if you can tell if these are Steri-lite tubs??
Also any idea how flex tape would be laid out? I could router out channels for 3"-4" which ever would be best?? If not routering if I can't borrow one I could cut out channels with jig saw from thin panel board and laminate to shelves. Any ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions??
Please Please, I really need to get going like tomorrow!
Thanks in advance!!!
Bill

Here are some pictures of the rack I made. They are two individual ones that work as a stand for my bigger cage I made. They fit 28Q containers. They will be heated with heat tape. Hope the pictures attached right!
