can you feed cooked chicken?

I agree and only feed my snakes whole raw animals.
But in Vin's defense (not that he needs me to defend him- his animals speak for themselves) if you don't think an animal can thrive on a diet that isn't strictly natural- look at our own species. I'm doing great on a pot of coffee and a daily Santa Fe Chicken sandwich at Carl's Jr, LOL. Well, maybe I should let my doctor comment on that..

Like I said before: I did not plan on feeding cooked chicken as a staple only temporary.

You might have had more success with raw chicken, but that's still just meat and does not have the mineral and vitamin content that your snake needs - that comes from the bones and gut contents. Meat's protein - which is good for growth - and fat - good for energy - but you can die of malnutrition eating nothing but muscle meat.

I was only worried about the cleanliness of the chicken thats why I wanted to know to cook it or not.

Sometimes there's more history than would be apparent to someone who's been here less than two weeks. Judge not lest ye be judged...

First off I did not judge any one! I do not appreciate people who have to argue their point with others in a rude manner. All I did was ask for info, some gave their views respectfully while some acted like little school girls when they don't get their way. And I would love to see you or any one here judge me!!! You do not know me as I do not know you. All I know is if you or any one else were to judge me you would only do so knowing that you are safe far away from me!!

Dude, don't be crazy and mess with Dean(Roy Munson) he'll give you the smackdown forum style!!!!!!l :twohammer :realhot: :bang: :smash: :roflmao:

what about dog food its self and the fact that we feed lab mice and rats that are not the natural diet either . They eat a diffrent species of rats and mice in the wild before the Europeins got here. Even in the wild today they eat way more fauna that rodents . You are only giving one or two type of pray items that aren't from this contenet. They are from Asia and Asia minor. There is pre made turtle food. So nobody has figured that smashing the bones to small peaces and a quick boil is any good nutrition. Well it exposed all the marrow. the bone and marrow gets digested. I use chicken Gilbert's. The fact that I cook it . Then you don't know until you try it. I can put way more food into the animal because there is no bolting like in a pray item. The fact that It will get digested faster because it is cooked . so my animals are getting skin, fat, meat ,bone and marrow. Now they are getting a sterile food source. I used ad raised rodents from S.A.S. I just spent $1000 on small nudes large nudes and jumbo mice. 2650 mice . Now the fact the I'm getting diffrent food values from diffrent sources means my animals are getting a good varied diet. I don't have to worry if I cant get rodents. I have a attentive diet that substained me before, through and after breeding season. It is to be so foolish when thetre is canned montor food . Do you realy think it is raw ? The problem is most people just conform to one way of thinking ,as soon as someone does something diffrent people are so fast to judge. Well look at what I produced and been producing

Their has been a lot of post on what to feed corns.
Fish, hamsters, birds, lizards and lets not forget crickets.
And beside crickets, the answer is YES you can..... but!! as I read through the threads of the post you get more of a feeling that the owner is just bored with feeding their snake the samething. And whats to see a little actions feeding it something else. And..is it best for the snake in the long run???? To me. when someone post a question like that, I usually see it's a new owner and I think that all answers should be "Rule of Thumb" answers.
Meaning Keep it simple, (K.I.S.S.) for now, until they have more experience.
Alot of things can be done. Cohab. Powerfeed. forcefeed. But lets master the basic.
Vinman (I think) stated that when time were tough. He had to feed cooked chicken. But when he first got started (I'm guessing) he feed either live or f/t. OK!.
Sometime you have to feed live. Is it better???? To keep the snake alive yes. But better ???? :shrugs:
You can also have a biological tanks. Is it better????? :shrugs:
The answer from some folks and always from me will be a rule of thumb answer for a "newbie" type question.
You can do it but should you? At this point in time??????

Even using rodents I havent used live in many years. more pics the last pic is of a gray band/corn 2nd cross I got as adult and was thin here she is gravid after a few years on chicken diet . I never got the male that I had to breed with her. I crossed her to something else this year I also just got a camera this spring

Vin,What's the third pic down? the banded one,That's a sweet snake!

that is a mexicina intergrade bred to a grayband that was cross to a corn. so it is half tri colored moutian king and 1/2 corn that is the male that would not breed to the grayband/corn female

The last snake is awesome!!!!!!!

I think so too, you picked the two that I was trying to breed. That is why I was trying to get them to breed for 2 years

Oh no!!! I'm soooo scared!!!! :nope:

Now its my turn to be like a little kid!!! :crazy02:

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt!!! :nyah: :nyah: :nyah:

Oh' by the way Roy I have seen your feeding chart and I do like and will follow it.

My point was simply the COOKING thing. I have no problem feeding chicks or chickens or whatever....but I'd only feed RAW. Considering how well they are doing on cooked food that has lost so many nutrients in the cooking process, wouldn't they theoretically do even BETTER on raw food that has MORE nutrients??

Just my .02.

Oh and I'd bet that NOTHING a snake eats in the wild is sterile....or even CLOSE to it.

We are talking about captive breed animals, I would think that they are nomore immune to the same things as wild animals.

Looks to me like your the one on his nuts!!!
*Looks down. Nope, nobody there.* I know you were provoked, but we can't have this kind of talk on this "family friendly" forum. And including a moderator in your profane musings is a bad idea. Maybe you and Hawkin' can take this to PM. Same rules apply there, but as long as you don't report each other, you guys can have at it. Any more crap like this here, and I'll just start banning without warning. This goes for everyone, not just you.

I haven't judged you, nor have I written anything that I wouldn't say to your face. I seem to recall that you're a martial artist of some sort, and I'm... not. My point was that you may not have understood what was behind some of the other bad behavior in this thread. But I can't blame you for not liking the direction your thread took.
