Corn snakes illegal in what states?

I live in NC and Corns are allowed. If you bring anything across the state border then you do have to have a permit like Kathy said.

We are thinking of moving back to GA, and I worry about the laws there. But really who is going to tell on me that I have two corns... one hybrid. Ya know?

Anyway, good luck deciding if you are going to move.

I only asked about NJ because I have to drive through it. I dont want to get stopped and have my collection confiscated on the way down.

I hate cops.....

Now, if you do get pulled over, you don't need to worry. They need your permision to search your car. And if they get to nosey, say that you have poisonus snakes in the back. :)

We should change the garden state signs.
Welcome to New Jersey where everything you want to do is illegal.

The best quote in the world. It's funny, because all of the laws they are putting up are dumb. They should spend their time worrying about Camden or something.

But they can search the car if you're suspected of doing something illegal. So if you claim to have venomous snakes on board and can't produce the paperwork for those, then you're stuffed anyway.

Lol, the poisonous thing was a joke. But, if they thought that you were doing something illegal, and had no proof, then even if they found snakes they would give them back, and press no charges/fines. It's like not getting read your Miranda Rights.

So technically:
Lets say you have 250 lbs (to be extreme) of dope in the trunk of your car. Then the cops pull you over for speeding, and don't see the stuff, but then searched your car without your permision. If they found the drugs, they would arrest you, but no charges could be pressed.

It's the fourth ammendment. My favorite are the first and the second :).

So you lived in GA and are actually entertaining the idea of going back? I live 15 minutes from Georgia and I can feel myself getting stupider. Seriously, Georgia is the armpit of the universe. Keep going north for gods sake.:)

Well I have to cross the state border to drive into it, so I have to get a permit to move? How do I do that?

I lived in GA (Atlanta) for a week before my mom decided the place was bad.. I'd hate to come back.
I don't think you have to worry about crossing any states unless you tell a cop you have snakes. Just try not to get arrested and you'll be fine.

Well, personally I found that rude and unnecessary and not really helpful the the OP.

That is all I will say about that.

Sorry, I meant to say you would need a permit if you were bringing animals into the state that are for sale.

You will be fine bring them into the state.

Hoping not to have an opportunity to tell a cop anything LOL

We're going mind our p's and q's driving down. Im getting a small Uhaul.....

The 2 Labs go in their crates.
The cats in their carriers...

And I guess the snakes will be in rubbermaid containers?

I dont know, I havent figured them out yet because I dont know what season itll be....

It shouldnt be too stressful for anyone. Ive driven down before and its only about 10 hours.:smash:

That's not very nice, everyone has their preferences. And that's a huge stereotype, the whole southern people are stupid thing. Region makes no difference. The north, the north, what do I have to say about the north... Oh yes, it can be just as bad as the south. I guarantee you that if you walk into any major city in the north and you are bound to find someone just as dumb as any souther person could be. I would love to live down south, as it's a beautiful place.

There's some pretty nice places outside of Atlanta :).

I would keep the snakes in the car/truck with you.

A: They might dislike the smell of the other pets,
And
B: You can closely moniter the corns when they are with you.

They ARE going in the truck with me Pat.

I dont have room for 5 snakes on my lap, as I will be in the passenger seat and my friend will be driving.

They can go in the Uhaul with me, or they can go with the moving company with strangers and furniture. I dont know if youve ever seen the small Uhauls, but there sliding doors opens, where you can go/check on whats in the truck. Everyone will be closely monitored that way.

As far as smells of other pets go....my snakes live in the same house/rooms with my dogs and cats so how does that make sense.
