Daytona 2009

I am still waiting to hear back from the hotel as to the use/potential cost of a meeting room.

I know last year at Whistle Junction, we had so many people show up that we didn't all fit in the back room any longer. Robbie is also doing some scouting in the area for any other restaurants that might take a large group and still have an acceptable menu/prices for everyone.

The year Rich came, he did have fun, but had noted that being a vendor and standing all day, he really didn't want to have to keep getting up to get his own food which makes a lot of sense.

Vinny Lilja and I had started talking about the tshirt idea again and approached Tara about being our designer. Thinking about offering them on Cafepress (talking to Chris about how to do that). Originally I was thinking of just selling them at whatever the base rate is so that no one is making any kind of profit off of this, but if we are offered a meeting room at a cost, maybe if we priced the tshirts a few bucks higher we could use that towards the cost of the room? I don't know - just tossing out ideas here....
 
Wow, what a lot of Good Ideas! Well, My idea is if we get a conferance room.. Have some of the breeders bring a sample of new projects to show off and talk about. Or new morphs! And I REALLY like the idea of Snake center peices! :) But if that isn't possable.. maybe have like a Door Prize type thing.. where people can win a Baby/adult! :)

As far as the T shirts .. that is a good idea too! And I like the idea of Marking the prices up a little to help pay for the room if needed!

I am excited! I Sure hope we can make it out!

Another idea.. if a breeder donates a cpl snakes.. they get a free t shirt :) This might get people interested in coming and hanging with us :)

The plan is to do Tinley if I don't make Daytona but I did some research last night and found a round trip ticket for $300 LESS than last year, soooooooo..........:D

I'll be deciding by next week and will let you know.

The last few years we have gone to Whistle Junction which is a buffett. It was something like $12 or $15 I think for all you can eat so everyone just paid their own way.

Not sure what we are going to end up doing this year which is why a few of us are researching alternate options. Whistle Junction can always be our "fall back" option.


Anyone else want me to book hotel rooms for them or give them a contact at the hotel to book their own? I have Carol so far. I have seen interest from a few others but wanted to know if I could help more or if you would just prefer to contact the hotel directly?
 
I'm thinking about it. I can always change my mind. It'd sure save a lot. But I hate driving. Or I should say, I hate parking.

One of the things I'll be checking with the local restaurants is if they don't mind us all having separate checks. If all else fails, we can do groups of 10 or something like that.


Would everyone prefer a location more towards the Ocean Center, or does it matter? There's a couple decent sized ones by the Daytona Speedway I could check out if everyone doesn't mind a little bit of a drive (right around where the hotel Katie is talking about is at).
