They don't always shed prior to laying. My Crimson just laid and hasn't shed for the longest. My other Crimson is looking like she is going to do the same very shortly. Just lok for the excessive amount of movement to give you the sign she is getting close.

The boxes you have pictured look just fine. What medium are you going to have for her to lay in?

i agree with DAND. Those boxes should do well, and the icreased movmt will be a sure sign she is ready. Your aztec looks like it is about to explode shes so big!:D

Thanks Guys.

IM going to be using vermiculite in them (2/3 full). I will just moisten it with a few sprays of water. Is that ok???
And when I put the eggs in the incubator, I will set up a new box with vermiculite in, which I had socked and squezed some water out of.
Do you think that those sized boxed will be ok to use in the incubator???

Cheers

Alex

Depending of the incubator you use the box should work in it as long as it isn't too high and gets too close to the heating element. You wouldn't want to melt the plastic.

ok thanks.

how far should it be from the heating element??? (im using a hova-bator)

Alex

The vermiculite will absorb a lot of water. Just make sure that it is moist all the way through. You should be able to squeeze a few drops of water out of a hand full.

ok thanks, and for the vermiculite which will be used in the egg laying box, it is ok just to give it a few sprays or shall I sock it in water and then squeze it out???

Alex

Soak it and squeeze out the extra. You'll have to make sure over the next 60 days (give or take) that it stays moist so the eggs won't dry up.

Yeah ok, thanks, I know that, but im just wandering about how much water to put on the vermiculite which goes in a seperate box which stays in the viv whcih the female will hopefully lay in.

Alex

I fill the box to the amount I want with dry vermic. Then I use the spray nozzle at the sink to spray it down real well. there should be some water collected at the bottom. Just pour out the excess water and let it stand for a bit. It will dry out even more since you'll have a hole cut for the female to enter.

Cheers Clint. IM just sutting the holes for the females to enter now. When I am done and i have put the vermic in with water ect. I will take a pic and post it for u to see and then sometime mabey you can reply and tell me if its ok. I just want to get the whole breeding thing perfect, lol

BTW, where in the viv should the container go???
I have a small heat mat in the middle of the viv and a basking bulb at one end.

Cheers
Alex

Here is one of the egg laying boxes with vermic and water. Does it look ok???

Looks okay. Just make sure the vermic is damp enough, but not too damp. No standing water in the bottom. In other words, not too much and not too little.
