Egg laying boxes

Hi Alex. I'd make the vermiculite in the laying box damper - same as you propose for the incubating medium. You need to keep the dust down (which can be dangerous to them & us if inhaled) and they seem to appreciate higher humidity when laying. It'll also help keep the eggs "fresh" if they lay while you're out and you don't find them for a few hours.

I use plastic tubs like that for incubation and I keep them off the heat mat with an inch thick layer of larger grade vermiculite (allows air circulation).

Yeah first snake to die which SUCKS, you really should have goten eggs by now, maybe a vet trip would be in order to see if its a phantom or if there's a problem.

Thats life. I will go to the vet soon, I dont think its eggbinding because the eggs arn't near the vent, So im not sure what it is. Both snakes are still acting, drinking and feeding normaly.

charm? You mean cham? I was gonna get a cham but decided not to, too much hassle just for pretty colours I've been told etc, rainbow boas are on my list too got wait to get my hypo boa first (£850 aarrgghh) plus I've got about 4snakes on reserve and I'm on a het royal python waitin list lol money money money!
