Experienced snake oweners read this !

I washed the pinky with ivory soap and placed in in a deli overnight, when I force fed her I used a tooth pick and mad the end that a push with dull and I was carefull to not harm her

I was the pinky with Ivory soap and placed her with it in a deli cup inside her Viv overnight and she didn't eat it when I force fed her I use a broken tooth pick I used the dull end to push the head down and massaged it down her with my fingers

Didn't think you would! Be patient, you're on the right track now. If it ate voluntarily before, isn't injured, and is in proper temps and unstressed, it should eat again. And once they eat on their own once, they usually do from then on out.

I just thought about it, she still has poop in her from the last time she ate which was a while back do you think maybe she could be constipated, and how could i help her go if she is

She does not still have poop in her, unless your cage is too cold.

Of course you are worried, it really is stressful and horrid when things don't go right. Please don't worry about seeing poop in her, she'll go when she needs to. Doing anything over-interfering owners do like putting her in a water bath to make her poo would only stress her more and delay getting her feeding. Don't handle her or disturb her at all for 4 days or so. For the next try at feeding you can bet we've all got our fingers crossed for you

So sorry for your loss. Sometimes these little babies just don't make it.

My very first corn snake was a small lavender that was super chill. She would eat sometimes but then started regurgitating and stopped eating again. One morning she was gone. I did everything I could to save her (just like you did for Clementine) but she just didn't survive.

Once I was ready I got a new corn snake. He was a bit older and bigger than my first one. He was an excellent eater and super healthy. Once I had him I realized how unhealthy my first one was in comparison. I honestly feel like I could not have done anything to save her she was just meant to pass.

When you are ready for a new snake perhaps you could get one from a breeder that is a bit older. One that you KNOW has had a good start. It's so rewarding to have a healthy baby on your hands.

Aw sweetie that stinks, I'm sorry!

HVani gave solid advice. When you decide it's time to bring another slithery friend home, try to find a yearling. They are established eaters and are past the tiny worm stage. Some hatchlings just fail to thrive no matter what you do. Yearlings still have plenty of growing to do so don't worry you won't miss out on seeing lots of sheds and growth.

That's rotten, I am sorry to hear that. I hope you don't let this experience get you out of the hobby, you were given horrible advice from the store. If you are ever in the Asheville area, let me know, and I'll see what I have.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Please don't let this put you off snakes. Mostly, they do just fine. Some just aren't meant to make it. At least you have the proper knowledge to help a non-feeder right from the start, should you ever encounter one again. Often, though, if they aren't feeding, there is something wrong, something they were born with, that makes them not have an appetite.

I think you should make a trip to Asheville and get a baby (or even an older snake!!) that you know is good to go.

That's so super sweet of you :-* I love how awesome people can be here!

My Condolences! Getting hatchlings is always nerve racking! I found that once they get to yearlings it is much easier though. I'd definately take Chip up on his offer! He is very passoniate and experienced. (And sometimes blunt but usually right)

I"m sorry for your loss. I hope that you do not give up on this particular hobby. I got lucky with my first corn. He was a hoss when i bought him and i bought him from an individual. I went out on a limb last weekend and bought another one but this time i found one at petco and she seems to be doing the same thing as yours. I have attempted a feed twice with no luck. I'm currently doing the deli cup and boiled pinkie to see what she does. She appears to be hunting when in her viv but wants absolutely nothing to do with the pinkie i offer. So lets see what happens. BTW when i say last weekend I have had her for going on 10 days... if this don't work, i'll w8 till next weekend and see if she will eat a live one... she is stubborn. LOL Again, SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS. I HOPE YOU GET YOU ANOTHER AND IT THRIVES. :)
