Foods you miss...

Violet Crumble and Crunchie, the best candy bars ever!!! They still have them in Australia and the UK respectively, but I can't get them here. It's actually been so long that I don't remember which I prefer. I used to get the crumbles when I was really little as special treats, and then when I was living in Ireland, Crunchies were almost as good...

Also and perhaps most importantly Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke. It was the best thing ever, I drank it every single day all throughout high school, and then poof, gone. No one asked me, because if they had I would have bought all of them.

ROOTBEER POPSICLES!

thankfully, i made up my own recipe that i *think* tastes similar to the originals. i don't know though, haven't seen them in about 12 years!

My boyfriends world was crushed when TGI Fridays stopped making their fried mac n/ cheese. Literally crushed.

We have inexpensive "generic" type popsicles that come about 24 to a bag and the rootbeer flavor is in that mix. I know both Walmart and Winn Dixie carry them, usually found on the very bottom shelf. They also have a tropical flavor group, but the kids like the rootbeer flavor the best as well, so I don't get the other mix.

Jello Pudding Pops - the original version. There was a newer one awhile ago but they didn't taste the same.

Caffeine free Dr Pepper and Caffeine free Big Red. I can't have caffeine and don't like the fake after-taste of most diet sodas... can't find the plain caffeine free versions of my favourite drinks :(

We still have Crunchie candy bars in Canada, at least in Ontario.

I miss vanilla and cherry coke, we can SOMETIMES find a rare place that has them.
I know there was a little convience store in the mall that has them 10% of the time, and a place 40 minutes away by bus (yes we've made a trip just to go buy a bunch!)

I hate the way they reformulate food. In the UK we have a range of "add boiling water" meals by Vesta, that were endlessly exotic in the 1970s. They're now wildly out of favour (they always were rather disgusting) but you can still hunt them down occasionally. I particularly loved the crispy noodles in their Chow Mein boxes but now they've taken out all the artificial flavours, colours and preservatives, they're just not the same. Eating them makes me sad because I expect them to be a taste from my childhood and instead they're just a shadow of what they used to be - rather like me! :(

I also miss KP Cheese Crunchies - only 10p a packet and just right for a starving student.

Also Lemonade Dippers - a packet of lemonade powder with a lolly to lick and dip in it. You can get the Sherbet ones still but I haven't seen the Lemonade ones for years. I used to eat so many that my tongue got sore!

We do still have Crunchies over here. They're pretty fab, I have to say.

Man alive, I'm really hungry now. And for all the things I can't buy!

The original Mars candy bar. It was just nuget and chocolate. Now, if you can find them they added caramel to them so they are more like a milky way. And I also remember eating doo-dads as a kid. I miss those also.

If only you were in the UK! Our Milky Ways are just nougat covered in chocolate and sound just like your original Mars Bars (although I think the Milky Way is a bit lighter). Our Mars Bars have always had the caramel layer.

My local shop stocked Reece's Peanut Butter Cups for a while and I got addicted - now they've gone again.

I'll trade you 2 reese's for one of your milky way!!

I lived in Europe (Germany and England--no, not Military) for almost 14 years and while there, I got hung up on pomme frits (german for french fries) with a special garlic mayonaise.. and in England I loved the proper English tea.

When I came back to the USA in 2000, I haven't been able to make that garlic herb mayonaise exactly the way the germans did and haven't found tea that tastes as good as the english tea.. ugh

I miss those.

I miss cherry and vanilla coke - I know you have it America, and I was really excited until I remembered your soda makes me feel ill, haha.

Hidden Treasure cereal
the girl guide cookies from the 90's...

All this talk of food, man, I wish I had some crunchy wasabi peas right now.
