Greatly increased my odds . . . (Clutches 7 & 8)

. . . of getting a Charcoal Stripe!! Had back to back days with clutches over the weekend. My two Normals het Charcoal/Stripe (poss Amel) both layed this weekend. The first laid on Saturday. Disappointing, but both in the pair were not brumated and this has been my experience with unbrumated first time males (crapshoot - either good or bad), but I got 4 eggs out of 20 from this girl:

Followed that with a clutch on Sunday of 22 beeeeaauuuuuuutiful gems:

Between my 3 girls, I have 44 chances at my goal morph. Fingers crossed BIG.

Thanks for looking,

Congratulations!

Maybe it's the angle or the lighting in the first shot, but to me it looks like quite a few are viable :shrugs: Darn shame if they're not :(

But that second clutch looks very nice, so fingers, toes etc, all crossed for beating the odds BIG time :)

Best wishes,

If your brightness is too high on your monitor they don't look like slugs (that's the story with my Mac here at work . . . or if it's a laptop, I've learned that the screen has to be at a different angle to match my home comp.) but they are. Just part of the game. I've gotten a fair portion of them this year, but then half my breeders are also first timers that weren't brumated so I'm not too worked up. I've got two that are due to lay any day now that were first timers and slugged out last year. The tale of the tape will be in what happens with them this year. :)

Congrats!!! Hope the odds are in your favor!!! I had 42 eggs last year in the same type pairings and only racked in ZERO charcoal stripes! I did get phantoms and stripes and charcoals but not the desired charcoal stripe.

Good luck!!!

Congrads!! Put me down for one of the spares :D :D :D
I like your positive thinking vibes! (Though, are we tempting Murphy??!!)

Thanks, I'll hope for successful hatching rates first and then beg and plead for the C.Stripe to show up!! :)

You got me :) I'm using a lappy, although I don't have the brightness all the way up, but I tried tilting the screen more and could see a lot more slugs :(

Still, I'm thinking positive thoughts for you to beat the odds and get....shhh....I won't say it, as I don't want Murphy to hear me :grin01:

Thats the ticket! I'd love to see some Charcoal Stripes here as well.
Here's to you and I hitting the odds and seeing some...maybe enough to do an outcross trade too!

Wow, I can't believe you're breeding yours already. I'm holding mine off until next year!
Well, I'll be honest. If they're going to reach 350+ grams by March on a normal feeding schedule of once very 7 - 10 days from hatching . . . :shrugs: What do you do? I definitely did not powerfeed to get them to this point! :)

When I looked last night at the first picture I saw many good eggs, but now with daylight I see the difference!

Hope that something good will hatch out the good eggs!

I just a first time unbrumated young male for my ghost and have a large clutch of good eggs, I totally didnt expect that, but it is possible! (They mated 3 times within 1 1/2 week)

So.....pipping yet?
Unfortunately not yet. The first clutch wasn't "fertile enough" to overcome fungus and mold . . . just took 3 of 4 eggs out of the second clutch for the same reason. The clutch of 22 still looks good. So far, even at 83*F, my first 4 clutches have been hatching out at 62 days. This clutch should start hatching right around the 22nd . . . so a bit over a week to go.

Oooh the 22nd June? That's my Hubbies Birthday :D If they hatch on his Birthday, you can send any spare Charcoal stripes to him as his Birthday pressie, our address is.........;) ;)

Still keeping my fingers crossed :)

Best wishes,

crossing all available body parts. I'm hoping somebody gets lucky with either stripes or preferably a charcoal motley...then of course I have to hope that they'll be willing to part with a male.

Well they decided to poke their noses out early. Was gone on a field trip Tuesday through Thursday, and last night when I got back I poked my nose into the incubator . . . they are fast! No pipping Tuesday morning to this view today (Friday):

There's still a few eggs (3 or 4 I think) that need to hatch, but slim pickin's on the Charcoal Stripe right now. Did prove the female out to be het Amel which was only a possible. Also got a little Charcoal guy that looks pretty good, may have to think about keeping him/her . . . or not. :shrugs:

I'll be sure to update when everyone's hatched.

I suppose you won't be needing our full address then, Hubby will be disappointed :( ;)

Congrats on the great looking clutch though, hope there is a c/s in one of the unhatched as yet eggs, still crossing fingers for you :)

Best wishes,
