help with my mom

I dont know if it's been mentioned but i found that Ribbon Snakes are usually pretty cool for beginners who want a small snake. They eat rosy reds (minnows) and are pretty clean

ok yay progress we went to gurnee mills (a mall) and in the rainforest cafe giftshop were animals mostly snakes and lizards and we saw two little teeny corn snakes (my fist time seeing a corn snake) they were awsome but the progress is when one of the people working there started carrying around a red tailed boa and my mom and sis (my sis hates snakes) both petted the snake so i figured id post this and on sunday is the reptile show i cant wait

just some advice, I know your mom hates mice and stuff, but honestly since it seems you are very new to keeping reptiles, you would better yourself and your animal by getting a snake that eats exclusively rodents. This way your snake will be happy, and you will be happy because you won't be sad that you bought a species which will eventually get sick and die becuase you cannot provide the dietary needs of it. If rodents are out of the question, then keeping a pet snake should be out of the question as well. There are plenty of other reptiles out there that make fantastic pets with tons of personallity and dont' eat rodents. You should look into keeping a bearded dragon or possibly a leopord gecko. Both are easy to keep, and make great pets.

yea thats y im goin to the reptile show to see whats out there and there are snakes that dont rodents like garter snakes so i still have a chance but i no ill end up gettin a corn somtime down the road

If your mom is disgusted by the rodents, then Ribbon Snake is definately the way to go. Every petstore sales "feeder fish", and if they dont then you can feed them small goldfish. You dont have to touch them or anything. Have a large enough bowl to put a couple in and the snake will find them.

PS~Try talking her into a cornsnake if possible, and dont forget to use the little innocent puppy dog eyes and pouty bottom lip method. Good Luck!

lol shrek 2 thats a funny movie. my mom and i were laughing so hard during the "cops" thing and they busted the cat for catnip and used the pepper mills for pepper spray. that was the best. also i cant wait to go to the reptile show its gunna be awsome

well i betrayed you all and i came back from the reptile show with a leopord gecko but the show was awsome and i like my little gecko

Well congrats on your Gecko, I hope you will be real happy with it. Drop by the board and say hi once in a while, (I bey you'll get that Corn Snake one day!) Good Luck Mate.

yea ill still hang aroud because im fasinated (i guess thats the word) with corns there so cool and i probably will get a corn somday but untill then i got my gecko P.S. what should i name him im thinkin of zippo (i like my zippo lighter lol) but im not sure so what do u think are some good names
