Is this MySpace or CornSnakes

I agree

I think the REAL reason that Kathy has few people on her "friends" list is that many of us are intimidated by her! She IS warm. sweet, wonderful, helpful and one of this site's most beloved members.....but she is also a LEGEND. Eric, as "old school" as you are, this lady is even older school! She is a true pioneer as far as keeping and breeding cornsnakes.

I have been a fan of hers for over 15 years, and she was rockin' and rollin' longggggggggggggggggggg before then!
Yes I know who Kathy is and look up to her immensely. I've even had the pleasure of speaking to her on the phone...and she was a very very nice lady. And yes I do feel kind of weird when she posts. Kind of like, "What is a goof like me doing here?" Step back and siddown and give the lady the spotlight.
She is a titan in the field, AND one of the nicest people to talk to. I appreciate you saying/joking about me being "old school", but next to her I am just a goofy 13 year old in braces and snakers.

Well put.

Interesting...
I add people that directly interact with me (answer to my questions, help me out in heated threads, etc.). I also add people from So Cal, since we are always trying to have get togethers.

Yes the direct interaction be-friending is a given. You make a good point.

wow- I can't believe this thread is still going!! I'm glad to see that it's turned so lighthearted!
In regards to the Kathy Love posts:
When the woman herself posted a reply, I was in disbelieve! :D

Yeah Kathy, you ARE a lot to most of us. :bounce:

I felt the same way! When I first thought about getting a corn, my boyfriends friend who has corns told me "you absolutely have to get Kathy Love's book" so I did and learned so much and then when I got on this sight, I saw that she had posted something and I was completely dumbfounded! I felt like I was reading something posted by a celebrity!!

Anyway, I know I said this a few posts back but I just wanted to say that I love that you guys can take a long argumentative thread like this and turn it into a great conversation!

Again, you guys absolutely rock and thanks for making a great community for newbies like me to come in, learn a few new things and feel so welcomed!!

She's a celebrity in all of our eyes, but she's the best kind of celebrity: a friendly one. I've had the pleasure of speaking with Kathy on here as well as in person (well, I didn't say a whole lot in person... I was kinda shy :crazy01: ). She's an amazing woman and deserves every ounce of respect she's earned.

Yeah when it comes to Kathy I'm always in awe of her taking her time out to post here.

When I would sell her book to people when I worked on the pet store I would tell them that I even knew the author and that if they went and posted on the board they could too :crazy01:

Seeing as Kathy helped me with Diamond Lil's problems by e-mail before I joined, then Nanci has sent me gifts, Nigel and Vinman got me imported corns from the Bronx, I have great mousemat from here, I got 2 Lexcorn snakes too, this site is actually a real vector for friendship above and beyond the keyboard and screen! In Nanci's terms of 'paying it on', I've sent a t book and fry keeper to Elle and fostered a non-feeder, and sent a gift from Ibiza to Nanci. I really feel I've got real friendships developed just because of this site, with plenty of people I'd love to meet irl too! As the saying goes, "it's just sankes", but it's much more too!

A conversation between my Sweetie and I. She was reading a thread over my shoulder in which Kathy L. and I had both posted:

S: Who's that? (pointing at Kathy's post)
A: (placing cursor on Kathy's username)Uh, Kathy Love...
S: Like from the book?
A: Yep
S: Cool, is that like chat with the author?
A: No, she's on here a lot.
S: To answer questions?
A: Yeah, answer questions, chat, sell snakes. There's a lot of breeders here.
S: That makes me feel good.
A: Why's that babe?
S: That's where you found out how to take care of Cheerio, right?
A: Pretty much all of it.
S: So that's probably why she's so nice and healthy.
A: Yep, it makes it pretty easy 'cause it's a group of people that have seen almost everything corn snake related, and if there is questionable information it gets discussed or disputed, and.......(on about shared knowledge and group discussions online until my Sweetie starts absently nodding, walking away, and saying "un-hunh"...)
