• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

Is this MySpace or CornSnakes

No problem , You put in the programs that you wanted. There are disable tabs for many features. The friends sec is not one of them, design flaw. No, I can not afford the modification. But on the flip side maybe on your next up grade you might want to install the disable tab for the friends list sec. So the few people like myself do not have to be bothered by Notifaction alerts for friends invites or have to reject a bunch of people who send you friend invites.

Vin, sorry, but you really don't understand how this program works. Most options are based on either affecting a user group, or affecting everyone globally. Generally those options which can be controlled by individual members are those that you already see in your User CP area. If they are NOT, then that means custom programming (which costs $$) to implement them that way. It is NOT an option that is chosen or not during an install. I do understand you are not a programmer, but it would be nice to understand what exactly you are complaining about. Quite frankly, it is rather ridiculous to get uptight about a process that you don't even fully understand.

I wont be posting nothing but for sale adds and pic's of my stock and a little story about the stock. I wont respond to the threads though (too bad we cant lock the thread like we used to) because I dont want to be bothered by friend invites. The more you post the more people want to be your friend. As KJ said I wont be the only one that will be doing this . Many people do it for all different reasons.

Yes, many people will do "this" for different reasons. But quite honestly, when someone does it BECAUSE they are in a snit over something that is rather petty and ridiculous (such as saying "Rich, you had BETTER do THIS or I am leaving (except when I need to sell animals, and then your site is OK, but only for that purpose.."), I can simply choose to NOT allow them to do it at all. :shrugs:

you know, I know nothing about computer programing, lucky I can turn on the damm machine. I see now it just is not a option is is a custom feature that has no code or progam someone has to make it up. I explained why and what I'm doing . Not out of spite , just so I dont get invites.

Vinman-
You can disable the email notifications. That's step one. Step two is not denying "all the invites"...you simply ignore them. They will build up and never be responded to. That's all there is to it. The little spot in the right corner of the top menu tells you when you have New Notifications. If you click the link, it tells you what those notifications are. If they are Friend Requests, you simply ignore it and go about the day. You don't even have to see who they are from. Occasionally you could go through and mass-delete all of them, but I doubt it will be necessary. You could even go so far as to put in your signature, "Please do not send me friend requests as I do not use this function. Thanks". It's polite, and tells peole straight away that if they send a request and you don't respond...this is why. And nobody gets offended...

The only reason I say anything is because I have grown to respect you over the last couple years, and I really appreciate your insight and knowledge here. You're one of the "Take no B.S. Give no B.S." kind of people I appreciate on this forum, and I hate to see your participation drop off over something so trivial. It really is an easy feature to ignore, even if there isn't a coded option for it in the programming.

With that said...I have just come to realize that I have been using the Friends feature on a few different forums over the last year or so, and this is absolutely the first time I have ever encountered ANY sort of "drama" because of it. Just shows to go ya'...

If I do that then I wont know when someone is respondind to a for sale add.
I put my signature with the saying you asked but I dont know if it will do any good. I got friend invites from people posting on this thread while I was complaing:shrugs:

Well, you certainly can post in your signature something like:

Don't bug me unless you want to buy something from me!

Which is pretty much what you are saying here.

I'm sure they were trying to bug you since you were complaining. Some people just like to push buttons. :)

Vinman, take heart in the fact that this is a NEW feature. As such, we're all having fun playing with it. People wouldn't bug you if you stopped whining about it the first day. You went into total meltdown mode (which around MY house would have gotten you put into timeout for the day.) The less you whine, the less attention you'll draw to yourself. You don't have to leave the forum, just walk away from this thread before the very last shreds of your dignity have been lost. It's great that you have long-standing friends here that respect you. Us newbs that don't know you aren't seeing that side of you, unfortunately. I hope you'll stick around and prove us wrong.
