Keeled's Scales 2014 Hatchling Thread

Shatters, sunkissed bloods, and granites

This year is the first year I'm working with a quad-het classic trio (zip it Steve! :nyah:), and I managed to hit one of the marks I really wanted to see. The trio is het cinder, sunkissed, amel, and motley. Below is a pic of the first shatter I've produced here at Keeled's Scales! Also in egg still is a gorgeous little peppermint (pics to come of it later).

Gorgeous little shatter.

I also have a full clutch of sunkissed bloodreds hatching right now. Both parents were sunkissed bloods, with only the father being ph lavender.

I want to see what a strawberry ice blood will look like. These F1's are the intermediate to that target morph. Here's a clutch of granites and anerys, all het lava and strawberry.

Those are really pretty. I think it will be hard to beat the colors on a good honey, but those sure are pretty as babies.
How are the Kisatchie silver leafs doing? Any updated pictures?, thanks, Brad

Thanks Brad! Sadly, no matter what I tried the male Kisatchie silver leaf didn't want to eat. So, I only have the female, but she's a monster. I'll take pics soon and post them in a separate thread.

Wow, those are really awesome. I'd love to see them after their first shed.

Your wish is my command! I'll post 'em up as soon as they shed.

Mitch, those are stunning!! Especially coming from a line of over-priced, and ugly Honey Corns

Thanks Steve. At the time when I paid $5000 for that female honey...I thought to myself "Geez, is she worth it?" But after seeing these lemons I would have paid $6000 for her! ;)

Congratulations on some beauties there!

Thanks!

Well Mitch, it looks like you are all done hatching and had a great 2014 season, congrats! I'll be waiting for next year to see how your 2015 season turns out.

 Haha just kidding, come on where's the rest???

Oh, I've got a ton more to come...but I go by their schedule! This is just the beginning of my hatchling season...but I'll try to post every day.

When I saw the lava lavender blood a few years back I just had to get me some! So, this clutch of bloods are all het lava lavender. I'll be well behind others by the time I hatch my own, but they still won't be too common of a morph.

I picked up some of Low Belly Reptiles zombie corns a few years back and did this breeding to simply test whether or not the male was het cinder. Houston, we have an affirmative!

Right now I have my first clutch of possible honey tesseras hatching. The male is het sunkissed ph caramel. The dam I paired him to is a caramel het sunkissed. In less than 24 hours I'll know if I'll only see sunkissed tesseras this year, or if there'll be something a whole lot bigger........

Hmmmmm...sunkissed? Maybe tessera sunkissed?

Here's the clutch currently hatching that might have a honey tessera in it. I think I see a sunkissed snout in the upper left corner. The nose band is thin and much lighter than any other...plus it's got a ton of spotting! Now I just hope theres the tessera gene in play with that one too!

Possible tessera morph.

No caramel snouts yet, so I'm beginning to think the sire might not be het caramel...

It's official!

Okay, it's official...the male isn't het caramel...but sunkissed tesseras rock! Out of eleven eggs, two of them are sunkissed tesseras. It's amazing how bright the sunkissed are in this clutch. The best part about the sunkissed tessera are that they're all het caramel. Now I'm only two years away from a sure honey tessera!

Here's a clutch of eleven eggs that will be at the very least all topaz. This is a line a procured from Joe Pierce. He disclosed that there's a chance that amel or motley may be in the mix too, so I'm excited to see what pops out. So far three topaz snouts.

Maybe a cool topaz...maybe...

Here's a clutch I've been anxiously awaiting to hatch. The male is a Saffron het hypo motley (hypo gene discovered in the mix this year!) and the dam is an Amel Sunkissed Motley het Caramel. The goal of their pairing would be a saffron motley, but any of the other three morphs are very nice too! So the first one peaking out from it's egg is...

...not quite sure yet...

...ah! Much better! A gorgeous little amel sunkissed motley.

After hatching out a lava butter last year I really want to know what that morph would look like as a striped snake. Seeing as how I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate working with 1/64 odds, I put together a pairing that would have 1/16 odds in two years to yield a striped lava butter. I paired a lava het amel lavender stripe X striped butter. My holdbacks will only be striped amels het caramel lava. So far no holdbacks, but only a fifth of the clutch is out.

C'mon striped amels!

As I mentioned in a few posts prior to this one...I paired together two topaz I acquired from Joe Pierce; both of which could possibly be het amel motley (but probably not).

The first two gorgeous topaz out! They are STUNNING!!!!
Topaz1_zps4ebeed5b.jpg

I second that !!
Also, very cool on the Topaz clutch. I hope you hit some of those poss. genes mentioned, especially Motley

Walter
BOUT' CORNS !!

THANK YOU WALTER!!!!!! I think when you typed that, Murphy inserted that uber-cool motley gene into the mix.

...and the topaz motley makes three (top snake)!!!!!!!!!! :dancer::dancer::dancer:
Topaz2_zpseae85b58.jpg

As far as I know this is only the third one ever produced. I acquired the only one Joe Pierce has produced (she'll be big enough to go next year...and now I know which male to pair to her), one that Mr. Thompson has, and now this one. Hopefully I see one or two more out of this clutch of twelve.

Congrats on such good odds! The topaz motleys look awesome

Very Nice surprise Mitch !! They all look really great.

I remember our conversation on the Lava Butter last year ;)
Any chance you have some updated pics. of that one ??

:crazy02:BOUT' CORNS !!

Mitch, I'm lovin' all these amazing babies!! I looked very closely at your list of pairings when you posted it and have been anticipating the results since, you definitely haven't disappointed at all!

Congrats! The Topaz Motley look Super-Duper NICE!

Orlando

Thanks Orlando, I'm really pleased with them too! This was one of the three clutches that had a chance at lava butters, but only if they both proved het amel. The last two clutches have all the genes necessary to make them.

Mitch that's an exciting outcome!! Congrats

Thanks a lot Steve. I appreciate you sharing Murphy with me a bit this year!

Congrats on such good odds! The topaz motleys look awesome

Thank you!

Walt, I just fed him yesterday, so I'll be sure to snap off a few pics in the upcoming days. I've been wanting to take some updated pics for a while, so thank you for the reminder!

The Shatter and the Topaz's are amazing!

Thanks Danny! The best part of the shatter is that it's from a gazer-free line.

There's no disappointment on my end at all. This year is probably only about 15% complete and so far I'm very, very happy with it. Now I just have to get a bunch of my holdbacks eating.
