Pay n spray wasn't that far off the mark.
The band's name came out of the back of a magazine from an ad.
 
This album is the band's fourth. It was the first with the bands "new" lead singer, really just a line-up change from within. He sang lead on several songs on their previous album, I guess it worked out. The new front man also wrote many hits, one which stayed on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay charts for 18 weeks.

A note on the Goo Goo Dolls, they have quite a following. I went to a concert in 06, Counting Crows/Goo Goo Dolls. I figured the Crows for the major draw...wrong. The GGD's led off with a really great show, I was pleasantly surprised. In the change-up between bands more than half of the people left, lots of open space for Counting Crows. Turns out they were right, Adam Duritz was dull, the band was just okay.
 
Heh, my two years living in the Buffalo area DID count for something!

Well, after two weeks, I guess I should leave a clue or two.
