My first tattoo! =] Everyone, show 'em off!

Let me start off by saying no, this is NOT an actual tattoo. I did it myself with sharpies when I was about 18. I would love to get one someday but I have no idea what I want on me for the rest of my life... also, where?!

Anyway, beautiful art everyone!

If that's with markers, I'd LOVE to see what you could design for your own tat.

Thanks Dionythicus. I loved the octopus all the way until it disappeared... but I'm glad it wasn't permanent. Maybe I'm just destined to a life of "week long" tattoos. LOL

Lol. I did the same thing all through high school. Good times.

Here's a pic of my latest and greatest. 2 points to anyone who knows who this is.

Thanks! This is by my usual tattoo artist, who is not a portrait guy. This is his first portrait. He's going to work more on the hair later.

Hint: this model/actress is a little before Marilyn's time.

He's not a portrait guy? Wow, Id like to see his "normal" work. And then I would have no idea who it is.

He's done some of my others and my husband's.

I love the spider one! So realistic. :)

do you mind if i ask what studio you go to? im looking around this area and since im new around the area itd be easier with a shove in the right direction to check out a shop. im looking to get a big piece done this summer but i have to find someone around here or make the trek back up to buffalo a few times to get under the gun.

I got my first one done at Red Dragon in Canton, right off of W. Tusc but I more than likely won't be returning there. My Dad got his first at Dino's in.. Kent, I believe? Maybe Akron. He and my Mom really liked it there. I may be going to Good Life Tattoos in Akron for my second one, just because I love the people there. A lot of my friends go to Defiance, or Smokin' Tattoos in Kent, OH, and they all seem to really like it there.

hopefully In a couple months I will Go get these :D Ive wanted the first one (cherry blossum tree since I was probly 15) and I was to scared of my parents to get it

I know there kinda 'boring' But I love solid black tattoos and I this less is more :)

I LOVE both of those. I'll eventually be getting a simple, small black icthus on the inside of my right ankle.

I am 41 and have wanted a tat since I was in my 20's but have yet to get the nerve. My 18 yr old daughter had one done on the top of her foot over the summer..it says Believe on it. She said it didn't hurt that bad and that once the outlining was over it got numb and she didn't feel the rest. I know everyone has different pain tolerances though. And I have had 2 kids (she is actually my step-daughter) but that is a totally different experience. I wanted to get two dolphins around the ying-yang on my ankle when I was younger now since I am hooked on corns, I want to get one that goes around my ankle with its head on my foot. A guy said he could do it and add a special ink that glows in certain lighting which realllly makes me want it now...but I am such a sissy! I got so nervous when I got my belly button pierced when I was 28 but it turned out to be nothing, but my nerves got me freaking before-hand. Mike says he'll get one if I do. And he would go first. But his parents think only tramps get tattoos and got really p...ed when our daughter got hers when she visited her mom in florida. And they told him he better never get one.. 43 and his parents still kind of control him. I heard they have a shot you can get to dull the pain before hand...does anyone know if this is true? Maybe one day I will get the nerve, or I'll be 90 in a rocking chair talking about the tattoo I want one day lol!!
Also, I have been looking at tat sites on the web and haven't seen any snake ones that look realistic or ones that aren't evil looking...anyone know of a site where I can get better ideas?
It's only scary because you don't know what to expect, and everyone who does have a tattoo has something different to say. Fear of the unknown!

As with anything, it's never as bad as you think it's going to be. Start with something really small and pretty, it will be over in a flash and you'll be so pleased with it afterwards, I bet you'll be hankering after a full sleeve in no time ;)

It looks great. Portrait work is so hard.

My guess is Jayne Mansfield?
