Oak - '09 Pewter

Thanks so much guys!! After getting some advice from JimGERcream I'm going to try to do another photo shoot with Oak. I'm going to have to wait until I have a day slightly off of school though!

I LOVE how Oak is progressing. He's no Langdon (Gillian's awesome Pewter also from VMS), but I think he's doing mighty fine!

Since that last post I've actually acquired a Lav Blood male that I will probably pair up with Lilac when she's ready (because she's 66% ph lav), but Oak will either be lined up first, or get seconds the next year!

I'm really intrigued at how light Oak is getting. It makes me really wonder how Lilac will progress, because she is so light already. I suppose I have seen pictures of her mom, and she is BEAUTIFUL. It will be interesting to see what happens between Oak and Lilac.

hopefully he won't maul her..... he is so fiesty! :twoguns:

Alright, after following the advice of JimGERcream, I mananged to get a slightly nicer shot of Oak, but he STILL was not very cooperative.

This dude has some SERIOUS 'tude.

Bahahaha He looks so disgruntled. Also like he's trying to use the leaves as a blanket. Silly boy!

P.S. Langdon thanks you for the compliments!!!

Here's a quick update shot.. not the best, but hey, it's finals week!

I'm so amazed with how light and silvery he's getting.

Well, I wasn't satisfied with that last picture I posted, so I took a few more today!

Oak is so beautiful! ..erm.. handsome!

Considering how dark he was when I got him, I can't believe how light he's turning out to be!

Close up!

Nice progression, beautiful snake :).

I hope you're doing better on that leg now. The bus driver probably caused so much trouble for you because they panicked. If they were found at fault that could cost them there job and a lot of money... so it was easier to try to blame you. It sucks though, especially since anyone making a left hand turn should check first!

makes me wanted to get one LOVE HIM. I hope this find you getting better. Good luck with everthing

Loving his colouration. Really enjoying comparing him to my Alcyon as they both grow. Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I think my favorite part of Oak's coloration is how his saddles are getting lighter than his base color. He also is getting more speckly and diffused looking as he gets older. He didn't have the most diffusion when I got him, but his sides are really loosing their side noise.

I just keep looking at his baby photo and thinking, "is that the same snake?!" It makes me REALLY curious to see what my light Pewter is going to turn out like... :sidestep:

Thanks for the compliments guys, I LOVE this morph!

I wanted to snap a few photos of Oak without flash to pick up his speckley look and catch his subtle tone changes. He looks great with flash, but I think it kind of detracts from his natural look.

These aren't the best, but here are a few shots of Oak without flash.

Finally I was able to capture how his saddles are lighter than his base tone.

He was NOT so happy with me about this photo shoot though!

Oak's position after strike #2
_1012387.jpg

Nope, not cohabbing, that IS the same snake! ;)

Sorry, that was a really corny joke.
*laugh track kicks in*

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed!

Oak shed and he's looking great. I took him outside for a little photo shoot and I really like the results I got. Here are some of the shots I took.

As you can see he still does NOT like the camera.

After he struck at me he conveniently repositioned himself.

His discontent makes for some very nice photos though!

Now here he is against the nice green mossy background that I discovered. I love it!

Grrrr!

Thanks for checking him out, I love this guy even though the feeling is not mutual! He's really not too bad though, he just hates the camera.

Aw, gotta love those hissy shots! I always smile when I see you've done an update on Oak. I really like the moss, by the way. Natural backgrounds are so often the best. You beauty continues to grow beautifully.

Yea, I'm really glad I discovered that little mossy spot. It was perfect that day because it was in the shade, yet it was bright enough that I didn't need to use flash. I think it really enhances the snake's natural tones and looks. It seems to work especially well with silver snakes!

Thanks for the compliments on Oak. I love how he's turning out. I chose him because he was so dark as a hatchling, so it's really interesting to see how light he's becoming.

I love his mad faces. I can pretty much count on him to strike at the camera EVERY time I put it in front of him. The funny thing is he's pretty chill other wise.. he's never struck at me while handing him.

Here's a picture of him being really good with a friend who was handling him at a BBQ last summer. Looks how small and dark he is!

He pulls out all the stops with the camera though! I guess Triangle head is blue steel. :p
