Our Horses (Attn: Katie)

More of Carly and Sonny, these were taken at their first Three Day Event, Training Level (which is known as a Half Star...the highest level of eventing is CCI****, so she has a few more 'stars' to work toward...)

During Steeplechase 'practice' the night before, this photo really captures the essence of them as a pair...not really caring about anything going on around them...

Steeplechase (Phase B), these fences are around 4 feet high!

More from that event....

After they finished their stadium round...they went clean and were in 2nd place. Then her friend Kevin made a mistake that cost him the lead, so Carly won!! (another proud big sister moment, for sure...this event is a HUGE deal)

And the stats from the United States Evening Association website, #2 in the country:

With that ranking and placings from events from last year, she qualified for the American Eventing Championships in Chicago last September. Unfortunately, it didn't go quite as well as expected and she didn't place too well (13th, if I recall), but it was a great experience for her and Sonny to be at one of the largest non-pro events in the country.

The only pic I have on my computer from that event, on cross country:

Okay, that's enough photo posting for now. ;) Enjoy!!!

Needless to say, my little sis kicks butt and we've got some amazing animals. We are very lucky to have them. I'm looking forward to this coming show season, when I'll hopefully be showing Nicky (or not, Laura loves riding him, so she can continue to do so if she'd like...) and bringing the 'new' horse Sailor into the event world. We'll also be introducing our other thoroughbred, Ike, to the show scene, as well as our other warmblood youngster (Chuck/Chaz/Mr. Brown...his name is different depending on who you're talking too :laugh:).

What a gorgeous bunch of horses!

I sure love looking at them - although glad I don't have to take care of them all, lol!

That's so awesome for your sister! I'd be super proud, too! And such a beautiful horse! Maybe she can soon take the lead and be #1! :}

Thanks Kathy!! Luckily, my dad does most of the care. He is retired, but works as a school bus driver, so he goes to the farm after his morning run and then again after the night run. He likes it and it keeps him busy. Of course, we help whenever we can (when we aren't in school, etc.).

Thanks. He used to be my horse, but when I started college, she took over riding him. They get along much better than him and I did, so I don't mind. She moved up to the next division the end of last year, so she'll have to start all over again in the points, but I'm sure she'll have no problem taking over that division too!! :D
