I have trouble with this. You misconstrued the original quote---and I sure hope it wasn't on purpose to make a point.
I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.
So if you're holding a gun and the police tell you to put the gun down, should you listen? Should the police have to make a judgment call with someone potentially pointing a gun at them whether or not the person can speak english? The quote does not just say that it's okay for a cop to shoot someone because they don't understand 'stop'. But you know, if the cop waited around and didn't act on instinct, what would happen if he ended up dead because he himself got shot?
What if that person is here legally, paying taxes, and working hard to support their family? What if they are taking classes at night after putting in their hours at work so they can learn? It doesn't happen overnight, you don't get your green card and suddenly magically know the language. And you ask them to put their own language and culture aside to embrace America. Not as if they could possibly have anything good to bring with them like family values, work ethic or strong belief in God. If they are here legally and paying taxes what skin off your nose is it what language they speak? So you sometimes have to press one on your phone. WAAAH! Hope your poor little finger is going to make it through all that!
If they're here legally good for them. If they're here illegally, they need to go back. I am tired of paying a good chunk of my hard earned money that goes to illegals, or programs that support them. I am tired of seeing my money being pissed away by ridiculous programs that our government creates for such matters. I despise my money being taken away and used as tax rebates for people that do not pay a dime of income tax.
If they want to immigrate into this country the correct way, Lady Liberty is here with open arms. This country was founded on those principles and they still exist today, no matter what you read in the communist rag that is the New York Times, or what you see on the Communist News Network. If you fall victim to sensationalized media then shame on you. Nobody is asking immigrants to come here and forget their culture. Ever hear of the term 'Melting Pot'?
I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.
I guess because I don't approve of lazy people living off my tax money I am a bigot.
I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe . I am proud to be from America and nowhere else.
Nothing wrong here. What's up with the term 'African-American'? Know what's up with it? It's victimization and coddling. I do not go around calling myself a European American even though all of my ancestry can be tied to Europe. Why would I do such a thing? I was born in this country, my parents were, and most of my grandparents were. The only time you're a 'Blank-American' is if you personally moved here from another country that you were a citizen of. Funny how pissed off someone from Jamaica gets when you call 'em an African-American.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!
Again, what's the problem here? If I cannot understand you, I am not buying anything from you. Don't you find it frustrating when you want to return something to Target and you have to talk to someone in Guest Experience in India that you can't understand? Or when you have a problem with an HP printer and 'I am sorry sir I cannot help you with your return of this product!'. That's never happened to you? You can choose to support whomever you'd like with your money and that doesn't make you a bigot.
So I'm still a bit confused as to exactly what you have a problem with.....
