President May be in Trouble

There's no undoing the election. We could accuse people of having blinders on, or we could just accept the results from last night and move forward. We need to be putting the expectation on our elected officials, not putting blame on those who elected them.

I'm proud of our country. Every one of us who voted (even if it was for Romney). We seemed to take a much bigger role (as a whole) in this election, than even in 2008. The onus seemed to be more on the two candidates, rather than the mistakes of the president's before. And I feel that the American people were given sufficient information to choose between the two.

You have to be wearing the blinders to believe we have been moving forward for the last 4 years! And one would have to be absolutely daft to believe many voters were informed at all about whom they voted for.

"Sufficient information to choose between the TWO".

But this is where I throw my hands up and walk away. People are going to be upset for a while, and no reasonable discussions can be had as long as people are responding to everything with bitterness.

What sufficient info do you speak of? What info did you use about Romney to decide he is worse than the last 4 years?

His ever changing stances on everything and especially his fawning over and pandering to the extreme religious right and his views on our military capabilities and his promises to do what he could to reduce women's rights to control their own bodies. The latter is unsurprising when you consider how women are treated in mormonism. Especially love that when praying together in their temples the women must be veiled. Once the prayer ends, they can un-veil. And that only the men get to become saviours of another planet, not their wives.

I had no idea how I would approach today except I would not revel in my superior ability to choose a candidate. I knew very well the other guy could have won. I did however know if Romey did win I would not call his backers stupid, un-informed, blinders on kind of people. I did worry about Romney's inability to relate to real people, I did worry about Roe v Wade being over turned, I did worry he could put in 2-3 Supreme Court Judges. The thing is I was willing to face this with some grace and some grumbling just like I did with Bush and Bush.
I am worried about the next 4 years our country cannot take another four years of political grid lock. I sincerely hope DC can get together and do the right thing for us 'the people' and not their ego.

I agree with this, I hope that I am wrong about Obama, just like I had hoped that I was wrong about him the first time around. Unfortunately the administration (meaning everyone in power right now, Senate, Congress, House, and Presidential Cabnet) have done nothing but push the polarization of our country even more... But, like I said, I hope that they all pull their heads out and get on the wagon.

America needs to take back the reins and police our government. We are not meant to be afraid of our government, our government should fear us, for it is us that hold the power, and they have been trying their hardest to make us forget that...

There has been no compromise or co-operation in this country since the Clinton POTUS and pub controlled congress and senate. :shrugs:

Then shouldn't the response be "Let's fix that" rather than "They started it"?

Look, there are obviously problems with every candidate. There's no such thing as a perfect solution.

But this whole notion of "let's stand in the President's/party's/insertyourtitle here's way because we didn't get ours and that'll show them!" is just ridiculous.

They're shooting themselves in the foot and screwing the people over in the process, to prove points they're failing to prove.

Someone's got to be the bigger man, so to speak, and compromise, even if they don't wanna. It's human nature to want to be the winner and to be right, whatever that means for the individual, but there comes a point at which you have to look around and realize that being "right" is making things worse. For everyone.

I don't really care who started it(that can be debated either way). Otherwise you're preaching to the choir(expression no pun) if it's actually compromise and co-operation. If it's Obamacare, we'll shove it down your throat type of forward, then by all means I want obstruction.

Since you are new here for the record I am libertarian/independent/constitution believing fiscal conservative social moderate. I don't want either side in my life more than our forefathers intended. Adding to the gov for the sake of adding is not forward IMHO.

I think the fedgov should not be in religion, abortion, healthcare, education, gun control, bailouts, private bedrooms, marriage, etc, etc, etc.... I believe in the US Constitution and the bill of rights. I don't believe we need a fedgov as a nanny.

I can't rep you again until I have spread it around! The current government we have is nothing like what our founding fathers envisioned for this country. The rights of the people, the local government and the states have been taken away by the federal government that has no authority to do so. We have LET the federal government take those rights away from us and we are going to have to fight to get them back. The next 4 years are going to unfortunately open some eyes and I pray to God I'm wrong, but I honestly don't think so. We will go from being a major world power to a wimpy chunk of land that will basically be given away to the highest bidder. Too bad that when we crumble, so will the rest of the world. I guess the Mayans were pretty darn close...only off by a month.

Mayan scholars have stated that the prophecy for 2012 is not the end of the world but the end of one age and the beginning of a new one.

I SO agree!

And I agree with that, too. I didn't vote for him, but I surely wish the best for him - and our country - now that we have him for another 4 years. I fear that he is not the best choice, but I REALLY HOPE that I am wrong!
