Red-backed Ratsnake (Oocatochus rufodorsata)

He really -does- have a different looking head and a very intense eye, doesn't he?! How very cool. I -loves- him David.
Keep us posted for SURE!

Well last night he refused a small feeding so I re-heated it and left it there over night. I may try and hydrate him myself as he looks a little down. I am using sterile surgeon gloves when working with him. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Absolutely will be thinking of him. I'm sure you can pull him around.

Thanks Rosie, I think he may be having some issues from stress, he was not digesting the mice, so I may switch him back to fish. A natural prey item will be appriciated I am sure! He was only $10 but I will spend $1,000,000 to keep him alive if I have too!

I will keep him in my thoughts too. I bet he will do fine.

What an interesting snake. Very pretty!

I'm sorry to hear about the feeding troubles. I hope he recovers soon so you can get that breeding project on the road... What fun!

I'd ask your mom about that first lol:sidestep:

Everytime I see this guy he's prettier!

First thing you should do is bring it to the vet have it treated for parasites, keep it far away from your other animals.
I have heard of people loosing there whole collection just from having one wild caught snake in the same house as the rest.Looks cool ....

I was just thinking that, stephen. You should probably get it tested for parasites. Better safe than sorry, you know?

He has since been moved into the guest room. He is all alone and no one but me goes in there. He should be good. I hope. I have panacur that he will be treated with as soon as I get dosage info.

So he looked a little better this morning in the new room. Hopefully he will make a full recovery! I am going to buy some fish for him this weekend after allowing him to rest a bit.

Good news. Maybe he needs his food minced up like baby garters? Anyway, I hope he thrives for you so you can get a CBB line going. And I'm first on the waiting list.

Yep you are! I may try smearing some fish or frog guts on the mice. Who knows it may or may not work. I am going to try and hydrate him with electrolytes tonight.

How long since his last meal that stayed down? Snakes are hardy, if he doesn't get dehydrated he can go a while without eating. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
