well folks here is some sad news.
A month ago, Selu was fed her regular meal, i have been busy so I havent had a lot of time to pay attention to her. My SO fed her a meal of some baby chicks. I like to rotate food types with some of my snakes.
Well, I pulled her out 3 days later and just chatting with the Snake Guru on the phone. I noticed that she had a feeding lump still in her. I thought it was very strange after so many days for her.
well, I took her off feed for a while, and started to give her warm baths to see if we could pass what ever. Well she defecated in the water with no problems. I held off feeding her for a few more weeks. Since she was a large snake and could handle it in case it was impaction. I still did the bath treatments. It did not go down or pass.
The lump was in the middle of her body. When you hold it, and press into it, it is not hard.
Well, I took her to the Vet last week. I worked with a local known vet here. This woman is top notch, she actually works with the animals at Underwater World in the Mall of America.
Well, we took an X-ray of her and its not impaction. It seems to be Soft Tissue at this point. Which can lead to a few things, Cancer (which is Common) or a Cyst. We are betting against the latter. At this point it will take surgery and we are not sure if its that viable. She may not survive it and speaking to a few friends and other herpers, snakes do not do well from surgeries like this. So we are still up in the air at this point.
At this point, she is active, and eating fine. I guess we are playing it day by day.
