Snake Throwing Up Pinkies

If you cut them when they are semi frozen, it is not bad at all. And although somewhat messy to feed, not as bad as you would think.

Great news! Now please be patient and take it VERY slowly! I'm even more conservative than Kathy; when I feed the first couple whole pinks, I cut them into three pieces. And as an intermediate step you can feed two thirds of a pink, in two pieces.

Ok, so we are 3 feedings down. This last feeding concerned me alittle bit. After she ate, a couple of bubbles came out of her mouth and she kept opening and closing her mouth. Is this normal?

If it happened immediately after eating, I wouldn't worry too much. She might have just had a drink of water prior to eating. Bubbles CAN be a sign of respiratory disease, but I find that to be quite rare in corns.

If the snake continues to feed and digest well, and you don't see more bubbles, I would just watch her and not worry too much.

Good luck!

I just want to say I hope your baby gets better! It seems like he is on the right track so im glad :)

I would be so sad if my little Gunther got sick!

Again I want to thank you guys for all your help.

Amun is doing so well, I think that shot and that Nutri-Cal worked. Shes gained some weight back and keeping her pinkies down as well.

Yay! I'm glad she's on the road to good health again. Nanci's right, stay cautious. But go ahead and kick up your heels, dance a jig, or whatever makes you smile because she's doing well thus far.

I have a similiar problem, i have a 5 month old amelanistic corn and last this recent sunday i fed him one small pinkie. i come in to refill his water bowl and the mouse i fed him is sitting in the bowl and has soaked up a lot of the water. also, he has thrown up a liquidy, chunky mess and it looks like he is beginning to shed but it has been a while since he has shed. my room is in the upstairs portion of the house and when his basking lamp is on he is always on the cooler side of his cage...any ideas? thanks

I would start your own thread so others see, but my guess is his basking lamp is making things too warm for him and if you can get a UTH it would be much better- they need belly heat to digest properly. How often do you feed this one cause you say he left a whole pinky in the bowl, but you saw another regurged so I am wondering if you feed to often possibly and he isn't able to digest the food. I would start your own thread and include how many pinkies you are feeding and how often:)

Danielle's right, more people will see your questions if you start a thread. This topic, however, has a lot of info if you use the search functions.

It's not at all uncommon for snakes to regurge if they're fed during their "cloudy" or "blue" phase, which is when they're beginning to shed. You need to follow regurge protocol with your snake now to give him time to heal.
(Regurge protocol was discussed in this thread.)

Check out the Husbandry FAQs. If you're using a basking lamp, it may be getting too hot for your snake. Also, corns need belly heat for proper digestion.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your corn. :)

Good advice so far!

Also, try a smaller wattage bulb in the basking light. Ideally, the snake should move in and out of the heated area off and on - just like they would do in the wild. Try different size bulbs until he he moves in and out of the heat as he needs to adjust his body temp.

Just thought everyone who helped me get through this would like to know how my baby is doin!

Amun is in perfect health! She's on 2 small pinkies a week now, and she has gained some weight back, and she did her 2nd perfect shed.
