Snobs

And Sarah, you know it's always a good thing when you say something that makes DEAN post!!!

See that is the very attitude I'm talking about. Snotty indifference. Be nice Mr. Munson.

Well, since I know it is "Unforgivable!" I'll stop apoligizing!

I hope people are not afraid to come to chat--we are usually really friendly. In fact, I've noticed a lot of new people come there first because they can't post until their account is activated, but they can come into chat. I've always tried to be as open and welcoming to everyone!

Me, I'm insufferable.

But maybe that's because I hate everybody.

'I am free of all prejudices. I hate every one equally.' :D :D

I think i may have accidentally ignored some people in chat, i almost always have many different windows open and have a lot of coursework to be doing so am doing coursework whilst occasionally pop into the chat, but often i completely forget that i am logged into chat.

Everyone normally seems to be very pleasant in the chat, just like the resat of the forum (Unlike most forums i see, I.e. Reptile forums UK) ;)

PS. I thought that you weren't meant to create multiple accounts?

PS. I thought that

That comment to me speaks to the "snobbery" of the chat room. By stating your not here to make people comfortable and having to "stick around" to get people to know you to me is kind of what makes it feel snobbery at times.
Every other chat I've every been in has always made new people feel welcome and to join in. I've never been to a chat that made me "wait" around to feel welcome.

You perceived my post in the exact way you wanted to - to make us seem like snobs. I didn't mean it that way at all. Think about it: some friends are hanging out together and talking. A new person comes in and says hi - they will say hi back but they are already in a conversation. Do you want them to all stop talking and pay attention to the new person? If you want to be welcomed you kinda just have to jump in a join the conversation, not expect the entire room to devote its attention to someone they don't know. Just because this is the internet doesn't necessarily mean that people are going to act different than they do in real life. I don't talk to everyone that comes within 10ft of me just to make them feel included. If a group of friends is hanging out, they aren't going to invite everyone in the vicinity to come join the conversation.

Another point, sometimes people come into the room and EVERYONE says hi to them, even though no one knows them. Guess what? That person sometimes completely ignores the whole room and never says a word. Has anyone ever talked badly about those people?

Aww, i've found it quite friendly here...I wouldn't say i've found any friends but people have been a great help & friendly along with it...and judging by your join date why would anyone want to ignore you as they probably don't even know you well enough yet.

-Shrugs-

Well, no.....because we're completely ignoring everybody. ;)

You know i was really fooled by a percentage of people on this site people i thought were nice people but from what i have found in the chat room is there really just a bunch of snobs.
Duane, there are many people on the forum, as you've obviously seen, who are here to pass the day....and cornsnakes are the last thing on their mind.
Since I joined the forum in September 08, I have discovered sometimes things are not always what they appear (as IRL).
There were a few early friends that clicked right off,....and on the other hand, there are members who have become deep close friends...who in the beginning I might never have guessed would be (longer standing members a whole lot smarter than me, and VIP's in the field).

Don't let a silly, foolish, shallow, superficial, gossiping, clique-ish few....prejudice you against the rest.

I'm sure I'm included in that statement somewhere and I am hurt. Sometimes you are so insensitive Eric.

On the contrary, Wade. You are none of the above things. Seriously.

In fact, you most closely fall in to the following category :

And on the other hand, there are members who have become deep close friends...who in the beginning I might never have guessed would be.
