( I Have Hybrids!! )

Eastern Kings Het Hybino

To be Honest, Other than my lava het Caramel pair, the King Pairing is Very exciting to me for some odd reason.

1. I will hybridize snakes simply because I love hybridizing and I can.
2. I will do this with more fervor than I might have otherwise as for me, it has become personal. How has it become personal?
Quite simply, when a group of individuals tries to control my behavior or actions through condescending remarks or threatened actions I take it personal. Now, suffice it to say that I would not simply hybridize for that reason alone. Hybridizing is a passion of mine. It is not something I seek to make money out of. I do it as hybridizing is a love of mine. My first mentor in hybridizing was Mr. Frank Bridges. I spent my summers with this man learning what I could. That passion was further ignited by other mentors such as Ottis Houston. Some of them I spent a great deal of time with and others I admittedly dealt with more in the way of correspondence, e-mail, phone calls, etc. My point being is that sometimes you find that you have a passion. Maybe that passion is running. If a group of people tells you not to run or you can’t run…. What would you do? What would you do if that group of people simply made fun of you for being a runner. That is what I am dealing with here and that is why I will do my best to create some of the most beautiful hybrid snakes I can possibly create. If you wish to mentor me in this I am all ears. If you wish to debate me as to why I should not do this I am all ears. But if you wish to belittle me or others simply for a difference of opinion you are just fueling the fire.

:noevil:You are devilish in your intentions my friend. :devil01: Can I tell you a secret no one else knows? I love hybrids! Lol, thanks for posting. I seriously love hybrids though if you didn't know already.

I don't particularly care for hybrids. Like jungle corns in particular. I don't think cornsnakes really bring much to the hybrid table. I think some of the Pueblan combinations are jaw-droppingly gorgeous, though. I don't begrudge other people their hybrids, for the record.

Rich's intergrades make me a little uncomfortable, because, what were they sold as, I don't even remember. Eastern Kings? But they aren't. Partly, I guess. With their freckly little Florida heads. The female is EVIL, and not because she's an intergrade!

Anyway, that's my stand on hybrids, FWIW.

Nanci,
You would be correct. They WERE labeled as Eastern Kings Het Hybino.

They Idea was to own a Kingsnake.

There will not be ANY King/Corn crossings in my future.

And you would also be correct about the females demeanor. :) Serious attitude issues! :)

no but the nerve runs about 2 inches below it ( depending how big you are ) and goes up to the tip.

No Nanci I was born a Catholic here in the states and I'm circumcised. but it was the jews that made the pratice very popular

Now, this is interesting as a religious person can do a circumcision on babies without the use of anesthetics and they can also involve their mouth over the organ.... which has increased the transmission of herpes to babies.... causing death.
Suddenly, what Vinman is doing... doesn't sound quite so bad.

Vinman has his way of dealing with hybrids. I don't begrudge him his methods nor do I see culling hybrids, morphs, or pure species as a bad thing. I see it for what it is... a practice that has been condoned by many who engage in breeding animals and plants since we evolved to the point where we could manipulate other plants and animals through selective breeding. Arguing that selective breeding is natural is like arguing that natural selection is unnatural. The bottom line, if your going to hybridize or breed an animal out of its natural environment you are going against natural selection. You are removing environmental pressures and the like and substituting your own personal selective pressures.

I'm sure people don't remember this little one I had, he was so interesting, so evil. Sadly I had to rehome him before the others as he was hard to keep my hands on and feed. When I got him they didn't know what he was or where he came from???

Nice. I didn't know about that practice!!

That's disturbing.

There is much in life I find disturbing. Ethnocentrism has unfortunately gotten the better of most of us and those that have a better understanding of it are often times so wrapped up in protecting others rights that they don't know where they stand anymore. My basic motto in life, try to reduce suffering for all life. Understand that into every entities life a little pain must fall. How do we balance that as breeders or hybridizers when culling must be done to keep ahead of the game so to speak as well as to avoid keeping or breeding deformities such as kinks etc. into your line? Well, for me it is simple. You have to either ruthlessly cull or find a ruthless culler that will do the job for you. For me, this is simply finding and raising a few natural predators... or simply eating the culls myself... depending of course on what I am hybridizing. If I or another family member have grown too attached, admittedly... I'll let someone else do the eating and the culling. My suffering and families suffering has to be taken into account as well. Again, I find I like to ramble and you may have a hard time reading or become bored with my writing, but I write as it is and not as I wished it would be.

Thanx for this one.

He gets his first BJ from a old rabbi sounds like pedophilia to me. I wonder if rabbi tosses his salad at his Bar Mitzvah :shrugs::shrugs::shrugs:

Culling is the process of removing breeding animals from a group based on specific criteria. This is done either to reinforce certain desirable characteristics or to remove certain undesirable characteristics from the group. For livestock and wildlife alike, culling usually implies the killing of the removed animals. Cows breed for milk production for instance that prove to be inferior are sometimes breed to beef cows and the calfs slaughtered as well as the mothers. This is just how its done. We humans then eat this meat. With chickens, most male birds are culled when they are born. They are immediately killed. There is no need to raise up roosters which will eat produce nothing else of value. This is how our society at large works. For this reason, most male chicks do not make it past their first day of life. Mice breeders and rat breeders often feed their culls and even retired stock as snake food. This is how things work. This is the part of any hybridizing hobby that separates those that will accomplish great things and those that will accomplish mediocre things. There is of course another option, if you have the money you can buy the best of the best unreleased hybrids, morphs, etc. and keep ahead of the game.... thus keeping your ethics in check as you are not directly supporting the culling yourself.
