A novel idea
I did indeed!
Over in the UK, people hold fancy dress parties for no reason at all, and anything goes!
I've always wanted to go to one as a bumble bee, but I'm probably too old for that now..
Actually it could be even more amusing if the US members were posting pictures in their beautiful ball gowns and then came along a guy from the UK dressed as a nun! :grin01:
Yay! Fourth complete shed, and all in one piece, in my orphanage brood of seven assorted flavors of baby corns. I can't believe I'm 45 and saying "yay". But...well...yay!
Tracee, I'm embarrassed to say that I do know what "fancy dress" means across the pond. From Sharon Osborne (who I guess is mostly on this side of the pond, now, lol.) It simply means dressing up in formal wear. And includes costumes worn to a party in the neighborhood of Halloween or New Year's Eve.
I was last photographed in formal wear in college, or shortly thereafter. Maybe a wedding or two, since then. Most middle class working men (non-lawyers, non-doctors, non-businessmen, ono-politicians, non-insurance salesmen, and non-televangelists) in the states would rather be shot than put in a suit and tie. I know that is a generalization that may offend some, but I mean it in good spirit, and welcome any contradictions to this, and will gladly amend my post.
I did dress as "the Fonz" for Halloweeen once. And a (Vatican) cardinal. And a 1930's mobster. And Louis from Anne Rice's vampire series. Walking around like a priest was more fun than I thought...but shocked and offended more people than I thought. Did not lose any sleep over it though.
In the deep south, it's hot and humid from April-ish to October-ish---so suits and ties are really uncomfortable. And, we've been busy with hurricanes lately.
