I've got lots of fancy dress piccies! Here are some Halloween themes, 'broken angel' and 'vampy vampire'

Wow you guys are so much fun I need you at our parties :grin01:

'Rock biaatch' what a good idea I've never thought of that, and I could easily steal a guitar! You may have just solved the dilemma for my next party there!

The back of the angel outfit was looovely (lovely in a bondage kind of way!).

Keep em coming :D

If I only lived closer! Claire's Accessories is a great source of dodgy jewellery, studded cuffs etc to jazz up outfits, and I'm now totally addicted to the Barry M sparkle pots eye-makeup! I took my wings out clubbing in Ibiza and they didn't survive, so I'll have to replace them. I do have some other piccies, including innovative use of my son's old army cadet uniform and me as a mad scientist. I love fancy dress!

Dazzle Dust!! If only I had a clue how to do my own make-up I would have hundreds of those little pots :grin01:

Aww shame your wings didn't survive, I had some gorgeous - and huge - white wings once that suffered a similar fate, only in glamourous Leeds! That was the same night I was so tipsy I didn't realise the reason I couldn't see straight was because I'd lost a contact lens (just one). Good times!

Mad scientist, brilliant - I am definitely forcing my mum to go as a mad scientist next time!

Well I don't have any of me in fancy dress. Haven't done that in about 20 yrs. So I live my life vicariously through my children. LOL

Here is my sister and our boys dressed for last years party. Harry Potter won the cities costume contest for "Most look a like character" and Tigger won 2nd place for "Most original".

A novel idea

I did indeed!

Over in the UK, people hold fancy dress parties for no reason at all, and anything goes!

I've always wanted to go to one as a bumble bee, but I'm probably too old for that now.. :(

Actually it could be even more amusing if the US members were posting pictures in their beautiful ball gowns and then came along a guy from the UK dressed as a nun! :grin01:

Yay! Fourth complete shed, and all in one piece, in my orphanage brood of seven assorted flavors of baby corns. I can't believe I'm 45 and saying "yay". But...well...yay!

Tracee, I'm embarrassed to say that I do know what "fancy dress" means across the pond. From Sharon Osborne (who I guess is mostly on this side of the pond, now, lol.) It simply means dressing up in formal wear. And includes costumes worn to a party in the neighborhood of Halloween or New Year's Eve.
I was last photographed in formal wear in college, or shortly thereafter. Maybe a wedding or two, since then. Most middle class working men (non-lawyers, non-doctors, non-businessmen, ono-politicians, non-insurance salesmen, and non-televangelists) in the states would rather be shot than put in a suit and tie. I know that is a generalization that may offend some, but I mean it in good spirit, and welcome any contradictions to this, and will gladly amend my post.
I did dress as "the Fonz" for Halloweeen once. And a (Vatican) cardinal. And a 1930's mobster. And Louis from Anne Rice's vampire series. Walking around like a priest was more fun than I thought...but shocked and offended more people than I thought. Did not lose any sleep over it though.
In the deep south, it's hot and humid from April-ish to October-ish---so suits and ties are really uncomfortable. And, we've been busy with hurricanes lately.

And P.S. to Tracee

Dazzle Dust!! If only I had a clue how to do my own make-up I would have hundreds of those little pots :grin01:

And by the way Tracee, I think it is ultra-cool to be talking to to people in Yorkshire and Kent,...England. I'm not new to corn snakes, but am new to forums. Typing in message box, I cannot see the other Brit user, but do believe I saw Kent out of the corner of my eye.

Good old Sharon Osbourne!

It's diamondlil who is from Kent :) yeah it's brilliant to see some folks from the UK on a great forum like this. Are you from here originally, or...?

Sounds like the definition of "fancy dress" has been stretched a bit further; formal wear works best if you cross-dress! I think nowadays anything goes though, hence my desire to be a bumblebee one day

I distinctly remember the first fancy dress party I ever went to. My dad was Mr Blobby (again UK people will know who this awful thing is) and my uncle wore a Triceratops suit!! I've loved fancy dress ever since :grin01:

I LOVE barry m eyeshadow so many funky colours oh and the nail polish superdrugs is great for barry m.
I think I mentioned I am useless at doing my own make-up but it's a good job or I'd have loads of Barry M Dazzle Dust! I have a pink and an ivory/silver which I bought for my wedding make-up, and that's it.

I do have loads of their nail varnish though, I can't wear bright colours to work any more but they are great for costume parties :D

Agreed, Barry M stuff is great fun! The dazzle dust works best if you 'blot' it on, but keep a tissue under your eye to catch random pigment! (I'm gradually building a whole pallet of 'em!)

I just dusted a small amount on for a subtle bit of sparkle, as I was expecting some help with my wedding make-up and it never arrived!! I don't look like I've had an accident in a glitter factory in the photos, so I must've done ok!

Speaking of weddings, my husband bought a Santa suit (I don't quite know why) last weekend and told me to get this:

http://www.costumehub.com/Adults-Women-Holidays-Adult_Sexy_Elf_Costume-costumes/OZ16745

It was only £3 so a welcome addition to my fancy dress outfits and it looks like it might be Leg Avenue (usually very expensive).

I think I can pull it off, am just worried that unlike the website, my one says "one size fits most"!

Looks like a winner to me!
Am going with a catwoman outfit for Halloween, I found gloves with the claws on and spent ages last night turning a fake fur stole into a tail!
Tonight I've got a posh wedding reception, so I'll be all dressed up and in good behaviour mode, unlike last week when the bride-to-be's hen night instructions were to 'release the inner tart'!

I LOVE the "official" Catwoman outfit I've seen, it's a near identical copy. But I'd be worried if my husband would let me out of the house wearing it :/

I demand photos of the inner tart evening! Sounds like you girls had a blast :)

The Jessica Rabbit one is a good but simple costume. I've always fancied dressing as Daphne from Scooby Doo for Halloween but the decent costumes are always so expensive.

OOH She-Ra, I've always wanted to be She-Ra too  hehe the list is endless for me.

This thread needs more pictures, didn't anyone dress up for Halloween this year?

I posted these already, but seeing as you asked....you may see a little difference between the tarty hennight and ladylike wedding reception pictures!

I've got some Halloween pictures from this year. My friend Megan took me down to her brothers house to a party where these were taken.
I'm the one in blue, I'm supposed to be punk rock. She's a schoolgirl...dead I guess. And the guy in the picture is obviously Borat. Brave brave soul...
