The Gang

Welcome! If you want any specific ideas on setting them up with their own vivs much cheaper than buying glass tanks, you can PM me.. I'm talking about bins/tubs of course. They turn people off at first cause it seems like a temporary solution I think. Or maybe it feels like you're just being cheap on the animals to set them up that way, but once you do it I know you'll love it probably never go back! Besides it frees up lots of cash for- MORE SNAKES, lol.
Glad to see you open minded.. My first snake I ever kept was a gopher snake on sand with no hides, branches, or anything. He got a weak diet of one live mouse a month. That was in the 80's and I knew no one I could turn to for advice. Knowing what I know now, I'm surprised he lived so long.. The people here are an OUTSTANDING resource, you get to pick the brains of the greatest breeders in our times and for free! I would've killed for this back then..

It's not so much tom e about being cheap, but I wanna see them!! Even the ones that don't care if I ever see them again, except at feeding time. :)

I understand that too, but hey, that just means you have to pull them out more often! I still keep my biggest two in plexi fronted vivs- They're the display snakes as it were. But I wouldn't be able to afford them all if I kept them all in heavy glass tanks.. Plus heating becomes sort of mismatched bits and pieces that need multiple thermostats, yuck! That's about where I was headed before I moved to racks. Anyway, my tubs are really quite clear!

ok i need some help
i have had the snakes seperated for almost 2 days now and sallen and pinky will not go in there hides and saleen denied food yesterday. she has never denied food, even in blue
is it because saleen and pinky have been kept in the same tank since birth or what
im freaking out please help!!!!

I doubt if that's the reason, though it IS probably because of the move. Just give them a week to settle into their new homes.. It is a big change after all. I wouldn't let it cause you to rethink your decision to seperate them though.. Remember the biggest risk to their health would be mating before they are ready..

Do you have all the tanks set up with 2 hides and a temperature gradient that you're able to monitor?

yeah i have multipal hides in each tank and temp and humidity readers in all tanks just like before

I am, also, going to say that the odd behaviour has to do with the move. Whenever the snakes' environment changes you should give them time to adjust. Let them rest and get used to their surroundings for a couple of days and try feeding, like next week or so...

Moving them into a new home is just like bringing the animal home for the first time.
They're in a completely new environment. Just breath.
Not eatting for a week or two is NOT detrimental to your snakes health, and constantly flip flopping them back from cage to cage isn't going to help either.

ok ill give it a week but if thing dont go back to normal im switching back

Don't switch back. Wait a week, and then feed. They will probably eat just fine. Moving them back will do nothing for them except add more stress. Snakes don't need companionship. Being with other snakes doesn't make them feel more comfortable, it stresses them.

Yeesh, no kidding.. I can't think of any innocent reason for this.. To find the man's logo, you've got to see to whom it belongs. This is an odd thing.
