We've all seen pictures of your snakes..

Howdy Tiff! Nice looking critters you got there. Not sure when a trip West will be, how's the herping late March?

Kenster is shooting ducks a sport. I bring my kids to feed the ducks at the park. It seems to me you could just walk up and stangle one if you wanted to and save a bullet. Hope you waited till all the kids left the local pond at least.

Yes it is a very expensive sport, as well as very addictive! During duck season I am lucky to get 2 hours of sleep during the weekend. But I enjoy every second I am out there. I also take my son out to see the ducks at the local lake. But recently the beaches have been closed due to e-coli. One of the major problems is too many ducks/geese in the area. The game and fish have taken all of the waterfowl out of the local "zoo" because it was too close to the lake as well. Not to mention swimers itch is also caused due to waterfowl droppings in the water. Most places around here have big signs that read "Do not feed the ducks/geese" . So I'm happy to go out and do my best to make sure I have food in the fridge and that I'm also cleaning up the water...

Duck hunting would be much easier with a loaf of bread and a throw net...but they just don't let you take em like that...LOL

I can't believe nobody mentioned your sweat pants, Ken....(so I figured I would...LOL)

Hopefully I'll get a pic up tomorrow...

Although I hate my picture...My brother in law took a good one of me with my son this weekend...so it is worth posting..although I am hideous...he is adorable...THANK GOD.

This IS a great thread...and nice to see everyone...although I am COMPLETELY curious about Spirit now...

Where can the rest of us buy these pics??? LOL

Shooting ducks with a mere bullet is probably as "sporting" as it could get. ;)

(duck and pheasant hunter)
(ok, the dog is the hunter - I just use the shotgun.)

RIGHT...unless you are POACHING them...it would take some serious "cowboy shooting the center out of a dime" shooting with a duck going by at about 40MPH...LOL

No doubt, that is why I have to use a shotgun! And of course a nice semi auto one, I love that third shot. Of course the third shot is always a 3 1/2, so I do know when i get to that one...

If you want big D, i can find you a pair of those sweat pants. I know how much you like them. I always go for sweats under my waders, gives them more of a comfy feeling

LOL....I think I actually have a pair of CAMO sweats that I wear under my bibs when I hunt...but you will NEVER see a pic of me in those (and I am sure you are very disappointed in that...LOL)...

I like my autoloader as well...especially when jumping out of a finisher ground blind after geese...but I ALWAYS shoot 3 1/2's ...
Not much difference in an X-2...can't really feel them...

Yeah I'll not be able to sleep ever again if I saw you in camo sweats. Now I won't even mention that I had one camo boxers under those sweats, cause I know you'll want a pic :eek1: :p

The X2 is a sweet gun, as that is all I use for waterfowl anymore. For some reason I think we have had this conversation before.....

Me too on the x-2...and I definitely will have nightmares about the boxers...

I am sure we had this conversation once or twice before...so I guess we don't have to hi-jack this thread any longer :uzi:

LOL

It sucks having a dominant left eye. The only real decent lefty autoloader I've seen on the market is a Benelli Super Black Eagle, so I've got a bottom ejecting pump, a Browning BPS. And I have my eye (no pun intended) on a Beretta 686 over/under.

jazz

Ok one more gun remark for this thread...

I can't imagine how much a decent left handed autoloader would be

Alias and I both shoot the Winchester Super X2 mags. Mine is dipped in wetalnds camo paint, you know your gun has to match the waders..and so on.

Anyway before the 3 of us take this thread over, I'll stop. Jazzgeek you may want to check out Alex Hue's site and his forums, we (the guys there) have a section just set up for hunting/shooting stories. Plus there are a lot more pics there from ducks to grouse to pheasants and deer...oh my :fullauto:

If it warms up, it may be pretty good. Are you guys up for a road trip???

What year are yours? I just got the opportunity to buy a brand new Super X2 (any model I want) for half off MSRP. I have until October to take advantage of this. (Thank goodness because the Tax man hit me bad this year).
Anyway, I have been wondering if I should, I personally don't know any one who has one so I have been hesitant. How do you like them compared to Brownings, Berettas, etc.?
I happen to be an over/under person myself, but for the price I wouldn't mind having one around if it is a good gun. :fullauto:

I have had mine now for 3 years and have put countless shells through it and never once had it jam. I've never been a fan of Winchester myself, more of a remington man. But this one was won in a raffle so i figure since the gun was free i should at least pay for the camo'ed one. Personally I feel like it is a great gun, pulls up nicely and swings great. I also think for a semi auto the time that it takes to eject a shell and have a new one ready is pretty damn quick.

Heck for a deal like that you can't turn it down, if you don't like it...I'll buy it from you at the price you pay

I'll stick with fishing as i tend to get more, and a week or 4's worth of brown and rainbow trout (when in sesion).

Howie, if you like deer hunting you'll love duck hunting. You can talk to the people around you and move around to stay warm. Of course once birds get up and moving around still and dead quiet is the way to go. I have taken 3 people out of their first ever duck hunt and now the 4 of us go every weekend and as many week days as we can get out without work noticing that we are gone..

Plus the people here love it when I sit and practice my duck call all night long

Nice..I am sure it beats sitting in 10 degree weather with a wind chill below zero. That's the only real drawback to whitetail hunting...And when you are in a treestand on a little bit of a windy day! Oh man is it cold!

It would be well worth getting one...especially if you are getting that good a deal. I have one from the first year they came out (won it at a Natioal Wild Turkey Federation banquet)...I also have a camo one from the second year...really nice...the Dura-Touch rubberized stocks and fore end are SO sweet...and then another one from last year (also from the NWTF banquet...LOL)...they are ALL Dura-touch now...even the black ones...my first one is just synthetic...but I love the gun...I am a Remington guy myself (although I DO like Winchester lever action rifles...and own a few)...but the X-2 QUICKLY became my favorite gun. I use it for deer, ducks, geese, and even pheasants and rabbits...sometimes. It is by far my favorite...as for speed of the action...it is one of the 2 fastest autoloader shotguns in production...right next to the browning (they have the same internal parts...imagine that). It also reduces recoil a TON...you can shoot 3 1/2 mags all day.
Well worth having.

There have been at least 3 times this year that we had to bust the ice up to get the decoys to float. Not to mention the day we went out after it snowed 6 inches the night before...

Put me in a deer stand and I am cold and bored with in seconds. Put me in a duck blind and I can sit there all day long
