What happens to a deer. (WARNING:Carnage shots)

So what happens to a deer when it is caught by a coyote?
well take a look.
This deer was found on my grandparents front lawn in the morning..whit a trail of coyote and deer tracks right behind leaving the woods..Blood and fur was all over their lawn..or on the snow..what a mess.
we put the carcass in the woods for the animals, with hopes that the coyote will come back for it and it will be shot!.:fullauto:
My grandparents cant risk their doges getting attacked..
and we felt bad for the deer.
Right now the deer are weak, and searching for food. The coyotes can stand on the melting snow still but the deer can not..resulting in many deer being ran down and killed..This was a real problem last year and too many deer died..it hurt the population pretty bad.
Lets hope this year is not as bad.

Sorry for the Images..Just wanted to share..(I thought it was pretty cool it didnt smell bad yet either..lol)

Poor deer? But the Coyotes have to eat, right? I dunno.. I've always been the type who feels if you build you're house in the middle of a Coyote/Wolf/Mountain lion's home, keep your pets indoors, rather than shooting the previous tenants to protect them...

Just the ebb and flow of the natural ecosystem. It happens, and is needed. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Oh yeah..I know that..But our pop was hurt really bad last year...
REALLY BAD!....I really love coyotes..I think they are great..My grandfather does not want this one around and the warden told him to get rid of it if he gets the chance..I guess it has bothered more that one person, in their close range of houses..thats all..
But I cant wait to go and get the skull when its all decomposed and naturally clean..LOL..(hehe)

I think the fact that it has been bothering people in the day time has them worried..its strange for coyotes here to come right up to houses..this close, especiall houses with many dogs..They usually stay clear of this situation..but this one is a bit weird.:awcrap:
This is all info I was given.

all this is true..I agree..but this coyote is a problem, and its right in a busy spot, near a big highway...In Maine..this activity, from an animal like this..is usually watched carefully..we had a bad rabies problem one year when I was younger....
................
Man I never ran from a Skunk before so fast..and I was chased for a while..LMFAO..

and besides here..There are so many Coyotes..you dont know what to do with..
A big problem is actually "COY DOGS"
a Coyote..wild/stray dog hybrid..these dogs are not as timid as the coyote and they are a pest..and besides they are screwing up the Coyote population..breeding and breeding..who knows how long it will be before all coyotes are hybrids here....thats my fear..
Coydogs are hated and often shot..
Now I dont hate any animal...or wish any death on anything.(I saved a beetle from doom in the LL Beans parking lot yesterday..lol)
but Just sharing some Maine "Fun facts" with you guys..

But Coyotes are great..I love 'em..I was hoping to see some th eother day when I was out snowshoeing in the woods..but ..I am sure I scared anything away......;)

info on the bag limit of coyote..

Well, there's probably a trapper out there who'd love to help your grandfather out...

Prolly..But the warden just told him to set the carass in the woods, and if "he" comes back..Shoot him.

lol..besides I think My grandfather is kinda excited to get 'em..LOL

Coyotes have adapted well to urban environments, too. They are becoming a big problem in many places in part because their natural competitor, the wolf, has been reduced across most of their natural range. Wolves would not allow coyotes to share their territory, and would kill those found within it, thus helping to keep the population in check.

And yeah, I agree... a coyote coming up so close to a homestead so regularly is a problem animal and ought to be removed.

I have a friend that has a farm in southern MN, and they have a huge coyote problem. I dont mind them eating the deer( although i dont really like it because im a deer hunter..) but they often eat the calves, and sometimes even sick adult cows, so we are highly encouraged to shoot them if we come accross them when hunting or whatever. i really do love hearing them howl though!

haha yeah but it scares the crap out of you when you're walking to a tree stand when its pitch black! but once im up in the tree i like it :)

The coyotes and fox in CT have made a comeback. I saw a coyote last summer on my way home from work one night. I saw a young dog/older puppy on the side of the highway, and as I started to stop to pick up the poor defenseless puppy that someone MUST have abandoned, it swung it's head and once I got a good look at it I realized it was a coyote eating some roadkill.

All I can say is, thank the Goddess my non-observance took a vacation, otherwise I might have brought a young coyote to animal shelter the next morning saying, "I'm sure he's just scared and will be a great family pet once he realizes not all humans abandon their dogs."

:awcrap:...
one time we even found a bird wing outside out tent, a bit away..that was kinda close..lol
but like I said alone or in few numbers the common coyote here is very timid..
its the rabid ones and large numbers you have to worry about..LOL;)

haha yeah i know they wouldn't attack humans, but its still scary when you're all alone!

Oh yeah..My BF gets mad 'cause..sometimes when we here them, and I get up to go "use the tree"..lol..I make him come with me, and hold the flash light..lol..but I always telll him.."Don't F'in shine it on me.."..lol..so yeah..when we here them he's like..."I am not helping you tonight"...haha
