What power feeding can do to your snake.... :-)

hello, shakyhand.

glad you documented your snake stories. i should do that, and share here.

oh, we are neighbouring countries..

love your lemon pastel, im in search of one.

and how is your breeding pair doing?

Hi eddie... wish I could visit Brunei some day.... ball phyton is also a great snake to have... I have a pair now... I and few friends in Malaysia are trying to breed and start a BP business maybe by early next year.... maybe you can visit us and make few pick up...:santa:

As for my amel breeding projects, my female is with my friend now.... last news I got is that the pair do not sleep together anymore.... I hope that is a good sign....

This really is a good looking snake!

I must commend you Shakyhand for have such a good attitude on here when people were voicing their opinions and concerns. I know many people would get overly defensive and argue. I was kinda like that when I first started here a few years ago. (But back then I was a know it all teenager lol)

So anyways great job with that awesome looking snake and in time he will slim down for ya!

LOL... sometimes people do got emotional.... and I'm just trying to keep my head clear and think for the best of the animal..... He is my first snake.... and I need to learn a lot.... and the only way to do that is to share real life experience with others through this kind of forum.... I join at least 5 snake forums just to dig out as much information as possible....

Because of lots of good advice I've got, now I have 4 snakes (2 corn and 2 ball phyton...) Now, I'm trying to save a female ball phyton that refuse to eat with other people except me.... she used to be my snake for a month and I traded her with morph BP.... she refused to eat for 4 months with new owner... but when I got her back for a week... she is eating back.... (you can imagine how big my head now...... LOL)

(got the kicks on designer morph, and the lemon is the cheapest of the lot)
interesting to know more on your BP business, do keep me in-touch on this. im very interested.

hope its a good sign.. i need to learn more on this breeding around our region. as it quite warm here.. no need incubator etc.. cause my female reverse okeetee is due for breeding, but my male is stil very young.. hehhee..

Can't believe I already had her for over a year.... I grin everytime I see the photo of us together for the first time in the first page..... she was "worm size" snake.... she is my first snake....

She was a bit restless today, so I took her out and asked my daughter to photograph us... She just ate about 40g baby rat yesterday...

She is soooo pretty I love butter motleys. Be careful handling that soon after a meal though- most advise a good 2-3 days before handling after feeding to avoid regurgitation. You don't want to deal with a regurge and they can be deadly. By the way your daughter is a great photographer!!

Thanks for the advice.... by the way... my daughter was using my Canon 1Dmk2 with EF24-70L....:D:D

It would have to be a VERY big meal for me to consider waiting more than a day or 36 hours to handle a large snake like that, after feeding. YOU may advise waiting 2-3 days, but I don't think MOST would, if you actually took a survey.

Nice-looking snake, btw!

and this was the first time I hold a snake... a local retic... I was so shaken... you can notice from the fake smile..

First of all-- your corn butter is absolutely gorgeous! And good job with her! :) Seeing yours makes me want to pick one up all the more.

And secondly, I had to comment-- am I the only one who scrolled past this pic and said "wait-- why is Will Smith holding a retic??"

Not to hyjack the thread, but I may suggest maybe you should start a poll and see if ANYONE else would advise to hold a snake the day after feeding when food is definitely not fully digested.:-offtopic

Ha...ha...ha.... this is not the first time I've been told that I look like that guy.... maybe next time I should pose wearing black suit with my snakes.....:D:D

Yepp... agree on letting the snake digest first before handling....:eatpointe

Just read the whole thread. I think he looks good!

I dont think anyone answered your question on breeding age and weight for males. In general, the same rule applies for males and females. 3 years old, 3 feet long, and 300 grams. For a male I think a lot of people are willing to breed them slightly before this point. It depends on the owner and the snake.

I think its safe to say that no male corn can be bred before 2 years. If at two years old the snake is a good size, then he may very well be ready to breed. I would bet if your guy is at 180 grams at a year old he will be mature by 2 years.

I just happened on this thread. It's neat to read about people who care about their animals!

I wanted to correct some misinformation in the above post for you. The 3 years-3 feet-300 g guideline is for females ONLY. Most experienced folks go with 2 yrs-2 feet-200 g for males. There are actually records of males much younger successfully siring offspring, but it's not generally recommended.

Continued good luck with your beautiful snakes!

I just happened on this thread. Your butter looks great, and you DO look like Will Smith, and you have a beautiful family!

You've done a good job bringing that cute lil worm up to be what he is now :)
That's a nice vid of him cruising around outside. I wish all my snakes were as calm as him.
