<<-- Maggie, breeder named her, and Wilbur so named because he grunts and snorts a lot like a pig -->>

Reggie got his name from the opening of "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark".

INDY: There's a big snake in the plane, Jock!
JOCK: Oh, that's just my pet snake, Reggie.
INDY: I hate snakes, Jock, I hate 'em!
JOCK: C'mon, show a little backbone, will ya?

So yeah, that's where his name comes from. :p

(This is one of the most recent photos I have... sorry it's out of season. LOL!)

These aren't snakes, but I still gave them names with meaning...

Bryony, my anole, is named after a character from Redwall:

Bryony.jpg

(Here pictured holding Veil, the baby ferret, who grows up to be the "outcast" of redwall...one of my favorite books of the series!)

Her boyfriend is named Oliver because he is an olive green color. I don't have a picture of him because I just got him yesterday.

My firebelly toads are named Pyro and Phoenix because both words are associated with fire. Here is Phoenix (yes I can tell the difference....different patterns of spots):

I also have a green tree frog and a golden tree frog, but no pictures. The green tree frog is Verde because that means "green" in Spanish, and the golden is Oro because it means "gold" in Spanish.

Well. I won't go through all 29 of my animals, and some of them don't really have reasons for their names anyway.

Damian and Dehlia - I think because it means "twins" or "siblings" or something.

McMurphy (RIP) - from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. He was an escape artist, which is why I no longer have him.

Jane, Langdon, Rae, Diego, Louise - all people that are very close to me, friends and family.

Blair and Jimmy - two friends of mine that were taken far too soon.

That's pretty much it, for now.

Phinius (M - 05 Amel ) Reason: Dunno... had watched a tv show when I just got him & some woman talking about a Phinius and I liked the name... so he was named Phinius. ( he was pre Phinius & Ferb cartoon era  ) although that's a hilarious cartoon & my kids love it... k I do too, so his name works out.

Murphy & Fate ( 1.1 - 06 Miami het Cinders ) Reason: when I got them, they were 50% poss het Cinder, the names 'murphy' & 'fate' seemed fitting in the 50% chance of 'who knows' if the poss het would pan out... turns out it did and they are indeed het Cinder ;)

Bacon ( M - 09 Diffused Caramel ) Reason: *shrug* he's brown... bacon is delicious and so is he

Trixie ( F - 09 Sunkissed ) Reason: she's a trixie snaksissis. She loves you, she turns on you, she goes this way, she goes that way... I ♥ her

Mercedes ( F - 09 Diffused Anery Motley poss het dilute ) Reason: I will have a convertible Mercedes as an errand car one day, they are sxe, I must have one... I saw This snake on the table I did not even think twice I picked her up and bought her, she had to be mine, she was my 'snake' Mercedes of the table... the husband was QUITE tolerant of my purchases that day :sidestep:

Snakeys1-18-10059.jpg
Coral, for her 'Coral' colors
Snakeys1-18-10055.jpg
Butters, for being a Butter corn, plus, Butters from South Park ;D
Snakeys1-18-10039.jpg
Lily, um....I think i got her name from the flower
calla-lily.jpg
See =D
Snakeys1-18-10047.jpg
Azzy/Aztec, for her 'Aztec' pattern

Okay, I'll play. Not all of my snakes have names yet, but here's the ones that do:

Peruvian rainbow -- Amaru -- means "snake" in the native language in Peru

#1 Honduran -- Chicchan -- a snake god to the natives of Honduras
#2 Honduran -- Chanir -- "snakelike" in Quechua, the Honduran native language
#3 Honduran -- Hari -- "hurry" in Quechua

Abbott's Okeetee -- Cetto -- "snake" in Creek, the Indian language spoken in the area where Okeetees are found
#1 Okeetee -- Tolosa -- "chicken" in Creek, because cornsnakes are often called chicken snakes and because I raise chickens
#2 Okeetee -- Uce (oo-cheh) -- "corn" in Creek

All of mine are named after gods/goddesses so far because I really like mythology and when I run out of mythological names I like I will move on to names from fantasy characters/books/movies/shows that I like.

R.O. - Aphrodite, goddess of love because she has a heart on her head
IMG_8216.jpg

Snow Motley - Artemis, goddess of the hunt, because I was told she had a very strong feeding response
100_6458.jpg

Califonia King - Cronus, ruling Titan who ate his off spring(cannibal), because this snake will be used to eat any hatchlings I feel are not genetically fit for sale or furture breeding.
100_7169.jpg

The remaining 4 were named after gods/goddesses I liked.
Zeus
IMG_8725.jpg

Kratos(old pic from arrival day Oct 29, 2009)

Hera

Gaea

On the non-snake front, we have a DSH cat that was a total fuzz ball as a kitten so it was named fluffy and now as an adult it is as I said short haired! We have a Himalayan named Bandit after "The Bandit" in "Smokie and The Bandit". And one of our dog rescues we renamed Wicket after the Ewok in Star Wars, as he looks like one(aside from his eyes that is, they were ruptured when his former owners allowed a mean dog to attack him and then refused to take him to the vet for care).

Wicket

I think that's all i can do in one thread.. I'll do the rest in the morning hehe lol

Alex, named after Alexander the Great and also because I have no clue if it is a she or a he. So I wanted something that would fit both. Sorry for the crappy focus, she wont sit still!

Alex.jpg

Max, the boyfriends snake, named after Max from Dark Angel.
lazymax.jpg

Vermithrax, named after the dragon in the Disney movie, The Dragonslayer.

IMG_0668.jpg

Cyan Bloodbane, named because she is full of fire and will not hesitate to show it. A huge attitude and an egg laying machine (64 last spring, even though I never paired her up with the male)

IMG_0004-1.jpg

Kyo, she is a stray my roommate took in and named. Then the stray adopted me.
Kyo.jpg

Wow, what a story! Good for you for taking care of Wicket. And what a beautiful baby he is! I will never understand how anyone can be so cruel to animals who want nothing but to love and be loved.

Wickedness.

Well... Her name is Felony. Can you guess why? It was supposed to be a sick joke but now it is becoming reality. Poor Felly-kins. :(

Picture737.jpg

Theodosia is an old family name that I love. Since I'll probably never saddle an actual child with such a hopelessly old-fashioned name, I figured I'd give it to my snake.

PICT0914.jpg

P5100856.jpg

sorry for the bad quality :(

Well, first it was BaconStrip because my friends thought he was a piece of raw bacon when I showed them a picture of him on my phone. Then I wanted to change his name so, I wanted something that will match me. My name is Abraham and so his name is Bartholomew (I would have named him Isaac but that's my cousins name and he doenst like snakes) So I picked Bartholomew because its rare.
