Michael, are you still getting the NE/Ten game? How did Nate Washington get the reception for -22 yards?
I just turned back in to the game, I just couldn't bare to watch. I didn't see the play, but I can only imagine.
The Titans still have talent, but they are on a real downward spiral. Defensively they are non existent, and the offensive catastrophe couldn't have been predicted by a long shot. The O-line is playing alright, because Chris Johnson has played fairly successfully, and they haven't allowed a sack yet I believe. DT Jason Jones has 2 sacks, so Tennessee can't blame the lost presence of Haynesworth, and I believe Jones will be a good future player.
If I was the GM, I would definitely drop Collins. I would have gone out and made that deal for WR Braylon Edwards, or at least gone out and gotten DE Gaines Adams to help with the D, who was just picked up by Da' Bears! The trade deadline is over I believe, so everything will now have to be done in house. I believe that starts with at least seeing what Young is made of, and quite honestly, I believe this is the one situation in which Young can legitimately come back on the scene and win back the trust of his team.
This is very dire for the Titans, not only for this season, because that clearly is over, but for future seasons as well. Keith Bulluck is getting older, as well as quite as David Thornton and Kyle Vanden Bosch, arguably their three best defensive players.
On the bright side, they do still have excellent potential, but potential gets coaches fired, and no one predicted that they were on the verge of rebuilding. In fact, people thought this was the pinnacle of their success, and that this season was an overdue chance at reaching the super bowl.
Michael Griffin is a shadow of last years self, and you can blame that on a beaten up secondary, and inconsistent pass rush. Courtland Finnegan and Vincent Fuller are both out with injuries, so that leads to an easy day for Tom Brady.
I also think people are HUGELY underrating Brady, which is very surprising. If people remember, Peyton Manning came out of the gate last year having missed training camp with an injury, and people were quick to blame their slow start on him having seen his best football (now they're realizing their foolishness). But he came on very strong late in the season, and accomplished one of the best regular season comebacks to take his team to the playoffs.
I believe Brady is in a similar boat. People were WAY too quick to cast him aside after he started off fairly slowly, and although this is a weak secondary to pass on, I'd say that he is making that same rebound that Manning did after his slow start last year.
Man... I talk too much
