A bunch of different questions for a new snake mom

One completely sad, deflated, heartbroken, devastated person right now

Came home from work and poked my head in on the baby and he was again in a different spot then this morning. Came home after my uncle's rehearsal and got the pinky all ready in the boiling water and the deli cup all ready and went to get my baby out just to find out that he passed away. :(

I just feel so awful. I wish that I could have done more for him. Depressed, crushed, and disheartened....

So sorry for your loss :( Sometimes they just don't make it.

My very first corn sounds similar to yours. She was so small and not very active. She ate but regurged then refused to eat until one day she passed. I was so devastated. She also came from a pet store.

Don't give up. I got another corn a few months later and he was in much better shape. It was night and day compared to my first. He was a joy to have, always ate and was very active.

I suggest getting a baby from a breeder. Even with shipping most are comparable in price to big box stores. You will end up with a healthy baby that you know will eat and thrive in your care.

I haven't been following this thread. There is NO WAY a 3 gram baby should have been sold. Poor thing had probably never eaten. What a terrible first exposure to snakes- but not what normally happens. I am so sorry.

Thank you everyone! This forum has really made me realize that there are AMAZING and INCREDIBLE people still out there and I love you all for your help and your kindness.

I was told by the store that the people they get them from are supposed to make sure they are eating well before they send them. It is extremely sad for the little guy and it sucks that some people seem to be just in it for the money when the animals suffer.

I will be jumping back on the bandwagon and getting another. I understand that things happen and sometimes life just sucks. Also have to accept partial responsibility for not noticing the shape he was in at the pet store. But I'm also a "fixer" and try to rescue and help everything I can (a large reason we have a zoo, lol) and might have gotten him to try and help him either way.

Again, you people are AMAZING!!
