• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

Apparently I've turned into an Arabian rescue...

What a gorgeous horse!

And she is even a little younger than you thought, too.

Hard to believe anyone could leave ANY pets behind, let alone 30 of them! Sure hope you get to keep her!

Friends of ours had their horses in a pasture owned by someone they knew. That person's unsavory relative opened the gate while they were away and the horses wandered onto a neighbor's property. Long story short, they were sold by those people at auction, the day before it was legal for them to do so. One was a thoroughbred with a tattoo that the county inspector never checked. They were able to get a couple back, but some they'll never see again.

I would hate for someone to have been through something like that with this mare. I hope everything works out.

She is beautiful Catherine. I certainly hope you keep us updated on what becomes of her. I can see how you would easily become attached to such a beautiful horse and I hope you get to keep her. On the flip side, if she was stolen or something then I hope you are able to find the family that is missing her.

Thus far, I have figured out the following: Her registered name is RS Rafiqa. She is a *homozygous black* eqyptian daughter of MS Rafiq and Ravenwood Shalima. She was bred by Morning Star Arabians which is no longer up and running. I was able to find an email address for the last registered owner, and am awaiting any info on her. On the AHA website though, she had a for sale ad listed back in '07, so I'm wondering if she was actually sold and if so, I'm hoping she can direct me to the people who bought her.

I'll update when I have more info :)

She's just so beautiful! I can't believe anyone would abandon animals like that, how wonderful that your aunt could rescue them all.

I thought she looked black!!!! So is she "good enough" to go in your mother's barn now?

I'm not touching that argument, Nanci! Adult I may be, but something tells me she won't hesitate to slap me across the face if I bring something like that up!

Hey she's good enough to be in my herd, but then again I thought that before I knew anything about her :p

Well, if she's as sweet as she sounds- you can't BUY a kids horse like that. You have to know someone that has a kid that's outgrown it.

Asil blood is often just that bright and gentle. She's tall for an asil Arab, but odder things have happened. Enjoy!

According to her pedigree from the AHA (which btw Nanci, you might be impressed by too!), she is purebred... no Trakehner cross-breeding. (Though now that I think about it, that would be a great sport horse cross). She's a mix of Egyptian, Crabbet, and Polish bred Arabians. Polish blood is pretty well known for being lanky, tall, and more... well, Polish-y. I'm certain now that her ears, the length of her face, and her height are the result of her Polish heritage.

Still haven't heard anything from the last registered owner yet. I will keep you posted :)

This is turning into a great mystery huh Catherine? She sure is a beautiful animal. Someday I will have my own Arabian. But I do love my Paints to. :)
Looking forward to seeing how this turns out for you.

She's a gorgeous Horse. I hope everything works out for the best with her!

As for your question, you should be able to just push print screen, paste it in paint, and save it as a picture. :)

I don't think you even have to hit shift! Just print screen and paste into whatever program you like.

Kathy, I did get the name and contact information of her last registered owner. The phone number is no longer in service, but I sent out an email to her. I am just waiting to hear back from her. Hopefully soon!

Thanks for the help guys. I am computer retarded. :p Here is her pedigree. She's Polish/Crabbet on the top-side, and then Egyptian on the bottom. Not too bad ;)

If the last owner responds, I hope there is some way to make sure she is still the legal owner. It is always possible she sold the horse, but the new owner didn't register it. Hope the old owner won't try to take advantage of the situation and falsely claim current ownership.

I'm thinking that is exactly what happened. After all, there was a "for sale" ad placed in '07 for her, so perhaps they just never got around to changing the ownership. However, if that is the case, that violates all sorts of laws in Arizona. Every horse, registered purebred to grade animal, must be in a county database and all owners must get "hauling cards" for each horse, with documentation proving ownership. When it comes to a breed-registered horse, providing proof could not be simpler. We've had to jump through all sorts of hoops before with a little pony mare that my mom bought for my nephew years ago. Dealing directly with a breed registry is so much easier.

The previous owner listed in the AHA resides in La Pine, Oregon. Considering that she was found in Arizona, and neighbors can give testimony that this mare resided on that property for well over a year, I think I could at least call her bull if she tried to falsely claim current ownership.
