Apparently I've turned into an Arabian rescue...

Heck, Nanci could do a portrait of her now and I wouldn't mind ;)

I would like to think that her owners would show some interest in finding her too (if they still wanted her). My aunt is always more than happy to care for "strays" and thankfully receives funding from multiple organizations to care for neglected/abused/abandoned livestock, so caring for them is not a problem for her. We are thinking that the impending fines and possible criminal charges are keeping the owner(s) away from coming forward.

Personally, I believe that whoever would dump a loving animal like that to fend for itself (let alone 30) should be in jail... for a long time. There's always a way, no matter how rough times may be.

I agree. It may be tough to find a rescue to take your critters if you ABSOLUTELY cannot care for them, but you have to try! Place the critters you can so you can conserve your resources to feed those who haven't been placed yet. Put up ads on CL or Freecycle looking for someone who can take them. Something.

When we acquire an animal, we are responsible for caring for that animal properly. Being broke doesn't relieve us of the responsibility. The only excuse I can think of that really works is if the owner died suddenly & the people sorting out the paperwork didn't know about the horses.

I think your right. In that the current owners will keep their heads under the radar if at all possible. They probably fell into a financial situation and had no idea how to get out of it. I"m just happy you and your aunt were able to take the animals in and hopefully be allowed to give them forever homes or find such homes for them.

It's almost as if she was meant to come to you. She could have foundered or beome shy of people, but instead was out there just waiting for the right person to come into her life!

What's happened with this beautiful girl? Any luck finding her former owners?

Ps...I hope not. I hope you get to keep her.

Hey Deary!

No previous owners found. She is officially mine :) Sorry it took me a while to get back to this thread, but its been a bit busy around here with the horses. We're in full Scottsdale show week, and BS made her debut in the ring yesterday.

Pics of both the girls are soon to follow!

You are making me miss my Arab Mare.... She was Crabbit, which is funny because we found out that it was started by Blounts and my last name is Blount....lol, She had Aladdin and Bask multiple times in her blood lines... Unfortunately when I joined the military my parents had to get rid of my horses... so they gave her to a little boy who was wanting to learn to do dressage and they sold my Mustang/Appaloosa to someone who wanted a roping horse..... I got so angry at them...

Thanks guys. Its been a pretty mellow year this go round at Scottsdale. BS is the only entry I had. She made into the Top Ten cut in the Yearling Filly halter competition, but was unfotrunately beat out of placing. In her defense, she barely made the yearling cut (since she is technically only 10 months old) and she was up against some stiff competition. My uncle showed his filly in the same class, and secured the reserve though :) Today, I head back to Westworld to cheer on my Uncle's colt and then pack up BS and bring her home.

Aaron, I'm sorry to hear that you lost your little mare. They truly are such a joy to have. Hopefully, you can get back in the saddle again soon :)

Congratulations!

I am so glad that she will stay with you! Seems like something that was just meant to be!

So glad you got to keep her! And looking forward to more pics.
I will probably be out that way in August this year - would love to get together again and maybe get to meet your beautiful horses this time!

With how attatched I got to her, I'm definitely glad I got to keep her too. She spends alot of time at my aunt's house. The "nutsy" rescue mare (that we call Crazy Alice) is extremely attatched to Vee (which I still call her, even though we know her real name now), and to seperate them is just devastating to Alice. So, in the meantime, they hang together at my aunt's. Considering that my aunt lives so close, I don't see a problem with it. It gives my little cousin someone to ride too :)

And Katie, depending on when in August, I would love to have you visit :D
