There is way way way to much fat and oils in the food. It cna be a very occasional treat if ever kinda like superworms or wax worms to a pacman frog it is just not good for em.

I don't understand... if you get a lean meat and cook it, where is the fat coming from?
Please note: Cooking does not only mean deep frying. Boiling in plain water is also considered cooking.

Tru, My network is not quite the fastest, so I only view 20 posts per thread, I am not quite up to the ability of Brent. My performance is sub par compared to Brent. Hopefully someday I can compare. :eatpointe
 
Nah, this thread was never destroyed. He missed, only destroyed his own post! Damn poor shot if you ask me ;)

I agree Brent it is 506 pages long.
 
sorry to open old wounds. I found it ironic that he compared his feeding method to the grapefruit seed extract that has since been shown to have no antimicrobial properties on it's own (it's the chemicals added to it that have the properties).
How do you change the post count per page. Mine seems to only allow < 10 posts per page. for me this is 19 pages long.

I was really curious if he still did this.
 
DYK that Vinny no longer feeds chicken (or the other white meat or red meat) to his snakes, but says he has not had any bad side-effects for the time period he was?

DYK that I personally can't stand the DYK thread and consider it a poor substitute for chat and really wish I could find some rule or regulation or ANYTHING to give me cause to close it?

DYK that if the economy continues along the track it is, we will ALL be eating mice and rats because we cannot afford chicken any longer?
 
DYK that is strange because when i spoke to him sometime before christmas he said he was still feeding them that and they were doing fine on it and gave no indication that he was intending to stop.

Why has he stopped feeding chicken and such?
 
Is this for real sorry just stumbled on this. People in my parents generation of snake breeding did this until they saw the adverse side effects it created. I thought stupidity like this and keeping them in too small enclosures had been done away with at least 15 years ago. I haven't read the whole entire thread, but I hope no one else considers doing this!

What can I say? This guy has been breeding corns for over 20 years, but his posts sure do speak for themselves...don't they?

He may still be feeding the occasional piece to help reduce costs in this current economic situation, but now that his financial situation has improved since the time this thread originated, he can afford to feed mostly mice and rats.

Ditto.....and.....ditto.
The DYK thread keeps me on the forum in general for long periods, perusing and reading and posting on many other threads, reading advice, shopping and buying snakes, etc. Anything that increases hits/posts on a given site/forum is an economic positive.
It also welcomes and fosters shy, nervous newbies. New and growing membership also serves the economic bottomline of a site/forum.

On the other hand, this thread should have been closed, locked, purged, erased, and deleted long ago. The first 20 posts in this thread is the biggest bunch of hogwash (intended as serious husbandry, of all things) I've read in years. That is my humble opinion.
Incidentally, not even my closest friends can truthfully attest to or honestly tell anyone for sure what I feed to, or how I treat, my snakes behind closed doors. I would certainly appreciate their support and defense, but I would not want them to go out on a limb and risk looking foolish.

DYK that I am fully aware that the DYK thread is enjoyed by many?

DYK that I stated that it was only my opinion? But DYK that I am not alone in my opinion about that thread?

And DYK that my opinions have absolutely no bearing on my ability to moderate this forum? If they did, there would be much more important things in jeopardy of my "abusing" my so-called "power" than a thread that I only view when another member has reported a post in it.

And trust me Nanci (et al), I DON'T look at it unless it is part of the job I volunteered for and was elected to do. And if anyone has any problems or concerns about how am doing that job, you know who to complain to.
 
I agree with this post being locked or erased. Broke newbies can easily get the wrong impression and ones economic situation should have no bearing on how they care for their animals, but instead indicate they have too many animals to properly care for. The DYK thread is hillarious and something I enjoy tons. Forums are a public place where everyone can contribute...or not so for those who hate it not looking is a sure way to not have it bother you- unless in Susan's case she has too, but thats part of being a mod.
