What she said! If you don't like it, why look at it? I'm sure Deano is keeping an eye on us...DYK is my all-time favorite thread on any forum, ever!!

Ditto.....and.....ditto.
The DYK thread keeps me on the forum in general for long periods, perusing and reading and posting on many other threads, reading advice, shopping and buying snakes, etc. Anything that increases hits/posts on a given site/forum is an economic positive.
It also welcomes and fosters shy, nervous newbies. New and growing membership also serves the economic bottomline of a site/forum.

On the other hand, this thread should have been closed, locked, purged, erased, and deleted long ago. The first 20 posts in this thread is the biggest bunch of hogwash (intended as serious husbandry, of all things) I've read in years. That is my humble opinion.
Incidentally, not even my closest friends can truthfully attest to or honestly tell anyone for sure what I feed to, or how I treat, my snakes behind closed doors. I would certainly appreciate their support and defense, but I would not want them to go out on a limb and risk looking foolish.

Sadly, even if this thread was erased or locked the damage is already there. I have already seen posts to people recommending chicken parts to snakes as food to get their animals by in other threads. People know about it. Just post the truth and let the person reading it decide for themselves.
Heck, its like the age old argument do I feed live or frozen?? You can tell people the best choice and they will still do what they believe is right.

As a member here, I love the dyk thread. As a mod/admin/owner/ of a forum, these types of theads have the ability to drive me to crack use. But as I mentioned on the dyk thread, the thread itself does lead to the decline of the random "OMGodz, hay guyz, check out my huge green booger" type of threads.

Like Isaid just dont give me crap this works Ok heres the raw deal I ran out of money a few years back I went broke. My snakes didn't eat for over two weeks . I had to make a choice eather sell off my snakes and all my work goes into somebody else is hands or find a cheap food source. So I thought to myselfe well what would a corn eat in the wild that I could buy cheep . well I know down south they call corns, red chicken snakes. and what I found out from farmers that corns grow big around the chicken coop. so I went to the store and they had chicken necks for 39 cents a pound so I bought a package to try. I said to myself well in the neck you got tiny bones, meat and fat just like a mouse . I said there is a lot of diseases from raw ckicken so I boiled it well let me tell you 3/4 fo my animals ate it half took it right away. So i said you need variety I said to myself turkey is to big for a corn to eat but what about a turkey chick I'm sure a 4 foot corn or bigger would be able to eat a chick.There I go back to the market and buy some turkey only 99 cents a pound alot more money but still cheep. I boiled it and there agin some ate it and to my suprise some of the corns that did not eat chicken ate the turkey. But I wanted more variety. there was no organ meat in there diet so I tried chicken and turkey hearts, gizzards, and once a month livers but still not all ate the stuff so I fed the stubborn snakes ever 2 weeks a mouse ,befor the mouse I would offer chicken & turkey. well after a few months ever adult and 9/10 of my juves. ate it. I wanted more variety so I siad dam, the big pythons eat pig .Not corns could you just think of a corn with a pickrey in it NO WAY ! but what the hell I tryed it I cut a pork chop I had in the frezzer and boiled it in the broth of the ckicken necks they ate it and it didn't kill them. so I bought fresh pork sholder for 89 cents a pound cut it into strips. and had a nice pork bone for pea soup for me. Maybe you should have waited another 10, or so, years before you posted this, if you still would have wanted to post this. I must say that I didn't read this thread much farther than this post because....I really didn't have time. I really hope this works out for you. Even though I know that this topic is REALLY not funny.... I have to say "Thank you", because I haven't laughed that hard in a very long time. But seriously, good luck!

DYK I also raise my spiderlings on cricket thighs... I suppose you could call it a drumstick. One size of livefood does all in my house. I have yet to have any spider refuse cricket drumstick or chopped up live food/moose parts (Thats after working with 7 different species of T as well). Screw spending a forture in 6 different sizes of live food and messing about with micro crickets when they readily accept a less conventional food source and are growing well on it. It's still the same nutritional content, just presented in strange ways.

So Elle, what I seem to be hearing you say is that there are multiple philosophical paradigms, and each is entirely subjective, depending upon the time, place, spatial, and socio-cultural context in which exists the individual. Is this correct?

He may still be feeding the occasional piece to help reduce costs in this current economic situation, but now that his financial situation has improved since the time this thread originated, he can afford to feed mostly mice and rats.

but according to vinman, his diet was just as good or better than mice/rats. If that is the case and it is cheaper, then why stop???

I can't believe this thread is still active!!

A man runs into the vet's office carrying his dog, screaming for help. The vet rushes him back to an examination room and has him put his dog down on the examination table. The vet examines the still, limp body and after a few moments tells the man that his dog, regrettably, is dead.

The man, clearly agitated and not willing to accept this, demands a second opinion.
The vet goes into the back room and comes out with a cat and puts the cat down next to the dog's body. The cat sniffs the body, walks from head to tail poking and sniffing the dog's body and finally looks at the vet and meows.
