Before Getting Into A Hobby

i go to this site to double check things i've read. the book i have doesn't specify on time with shedding and the rest i'm sure you just wanted to piss me off... anyway fatman go play with yourself. u been on my tail since i registered to this site with your "troll" BS. no one was pointing fingers because no one was called out. my first statement was "im a noob" i consider myself one of them. so i wanted to give a bit of advice.

so kindly. get off my....

Hey SHAKSNAKE,

Would you like some whine :sobstory: with that sorry I mean wine. Not my fault you posted a TROLL post and for a young woman you do have a potty mouth.

Love the Fatman

Not everyone plans in advance to have a snake (or any other animal) as a pet. Sometimes opportunities simply present themselves (rescue situations for example) and people take it into their own hearts and hands to provide a better life for such animals. Then they have to learn ASAP.

I'm very thankful to everyone in this Forum that took the time, patience and kindness to help me when I was asking (what you may deem) 'juvenile' questions.

Ease up on Newbies!

that's true! i didn't mean to be harsh or anything i was trying to help though!

no one is cracking on noobs. again, i am a noob trying to help.

and thats too bad! because i didn't come here to seek your approval of my snake keeping. :sobstory:

but since you want to comment, why don't you pull up some pics of my setup or my snake and show how "crappy" i am as an owner? since your so hasty to make that assumption.

You feed live, not because you have to, but because you want to.
Tells me alll I need to know about you.
And makes you a crap keeper to alot of us here.

we'll I'm sorry you feel that way. i think your a good keeper. and it's not because you feed f/t. your entitled to your opinion. I'm not here to start trouble. i like this site and the people are helpful. the end.

Are you aware of the suffering a pinky goes through when a snake eats it?
It is blind and deaf, and it is ripped away from the warmth of the nest.
Then it feels the teeth go into it when the snake bites it, and starts engulfing it.
Then it is dragged down a throat with no air, and it is screaming in pain.
And before it is dead the snake's stomach acid is burning it, and it can feel everything.
I personally think that anyone who allows that to happen to a baby animal FOR NO GOOD REASON is a monster.

That does not even go into what happens if a snake is not offered f/t and gets to the point of not accepting f/t and then gets injured down the road.

You do know that if you go to f/t, you can buy many at a time and throw them in the freezer and then when it is late, or raining, or snowing you don't have to make a dash to the pet shop....right?

the way you broke that down is pretty disturbing. but i get your point. I can't keep frozen mice in my freezer. so that cancels out f/t anyway.

the fact that there's a petshop a couple blocks down from me selling live mice is extra. and yes, it is convenient. F/T would be even MORE convenient. i made this point before in a different thread, i just didn't think I'd have to get this deep into it. but here i am trying to prove my "humanness". i appreciate how much you care though because you wouldn't even bother if you didn't care. so thanks for that. but i feel like your making hasty generalizations, I'm honestly not trying to start trouble with you, i respect your knowledge on corns. but i assure you i am no irresponsible pet owner!

Why can't you keep frozen mice in your freezer? I have about 50 in mine at any given time, right next to the ice cream! Freezing kills parasites and other nasties, and they are well wrapped, and besides, I have dead chickens, pigs and steers in my freezer already. Same thing, different meat.
A pinky thrown into the freezer is dead usually in less than a minute, and it's sad, but much better than being eaten alive. Plus your snake would be on f/t when the mice get more dangerous. Is it possible for you to buy a pink and toss it in the freezer for a few minutes before you feed?

What up with all this hate???? why can we love each other??? In the words of Bob Marley dont worry be happy

In the words of Bob Marley dont worry be happy

For the love of all that is holy, please tell me that you are joking!:crying:

Bobby McFerrin's heart must be split in two right now.

But I do agree with the sentiment. In the *actual* words of Bob Marley, let's get together and feel alright.;)

we need an "I feel so freakin' old" smiley

I'll put it this way, my head will be on a silver platter for dinner if a mouse is anywhere near the freezer lol. i'm feeding him live fuzzies now and he's doing well, this friday he actually ate two! i guess i'll bump him up in size when i am absolutely sure he can handle it or even fresh killed is an option also but as much of a monster as i may seem, i don't have the stomach to kill the mouse myself  its gross

first of all im a noob and a young college student.

I just want to say i see a lot of people asking very juvenile questions on the forum, which is ok but if you don't know what temperatures a corn snake needs to survive, or what substrates are harmful you shouldn't be anywhere near one....YET.

my suggestion to all who haven't gotten a corn snake or any pet for that matter. buy yourself a book on the subject and read it. or google information and read as much as you can

i bought a corn snake book in august and bought my corn snake in October. i still go back to the book for quick questions and things of that nature and i still come into this forum to ask basic questions also, but i think some people are really just getting ahead of themselves and buying snakes and asking questions later. do yourself and your pet a favor, be responsible and become knowledgeable of something before you get into it.

not to preach but some people make us noobs look like idiots. as for me, i've done an extensive amount of homework before finally getting my corn snake. that should be a no brainier for anyone that is thinking about getting into any hobby!

just wanted to give my 2 cents on that. cheers!

I also question the reason why YOU, SHAKSNAKE bring up this topic!!
Please tell us the name of this book that you bought on corn snakes.
I would like to know. Because you do ask the normal amount of juvenile questions.
I also notice you giving out not so great advice. Which scares me for the ""newbies"" reading it. I haven't said anything til now but please read another book or ask more before giving ""advice"".

Sorry to get down on ya but that's my 2 cents on that!!

Corn Snakes : The Comprehensive Owner's Guide by Kathy & Bill Love. that's the book i read. was that not a good book?

I googled it to see who sung it. That Bobby McFerrin guy popped up but I never heard of him. And in the movie I Am Legend. Will Smith said mister Bob Marley sung it

According to the quotes I've looked up, I think you're mistaking it for Bob Marley's "3 Little Birds" - "Don't worry about a thing, because every little thing's gonna be alright" sounds enough like "Don't worry be happy" to the uninitiated.

O wait yes thats it. Thanks for letting me know so I dont rip another (im just guessing because the only person I have really heard sing this is Fez from That 70's show!) great singer

Although that book may be good (I've never read it) that doesn't mean that ONE book is the end all be all of corn care! I looked up a bunch of websites on the subject and STILL came here to ask questions and gain more information. Not to mention, just because it says it in a book, doesn't mean that's the way it should be done, I'd rather hear people's experiences with what works and what doesn't

People don't read books any more apparently, they are accustomed to getting quick answers. There are a few experts here that have wrote many books that are out there, guess they never post here cause...they already wrote the book.
When I joined this site I assumed people knew the basics...seems many come here to get the basics...after the fact.
Yes it's annoying, no wonder some of the leading experts don't post here on a regular basis...who wants to explain why snakes can't be fed a vegan diet ? :dunce:

Yes very good, I refer to it quite often.
But some of the (as you but it) juvenile questions you have asked are covered in that book.

It just come down to you making a thread complaining about newbies asking
questions when you have done the same.

To me...you shouldn't have posted this.
