LOL. Maybe it was the fact that Joe came out and said he was going to do it that tipped you off, Cheryl. I'm not a parent, but it didn't take parental insight to figure this one out. :grin01:JM :o) said:LOL! I knew it was you! Somehow I just knew it! LOL
Sorry~ I'm a parent~ you may not see the same humour in this that I do! LOL!
:eek1:I do not want this site, the people here, and myself by association, getting the reputation that such behavior will unavoidably lead to.

You are:Joejr14 said:Who in the hell is complaining that they're off topic?
Joejr14 said:Maybe that's not 'nice', but neither is coming into a cornsnake chat room to be rude and expect EVERYONE to stop what they're talking about to answer your off topic question.
Why is our job to 'be nice' to rude people from Fauna who come into a cornsnake chat room to talk about frogs, toad, torts, iguana, lizards, moths, salamanders, etc etc? I don't get it. I feel like you're yelling at us because we're not accomodating these people---and that makes no sense to me. Is it snobbish?
. . . and you're NOT acting like you own the place?!Joejr14 said:What PISSES me off is when people come into the CORNSNAKES room thinking they own the joint
Let's explore this further shall we?!Joejr14 said:Someone needs to explain how coming into the chat where a conversation is taking place and going:

DOES NE1 HAVE NE TORTISOSES!?!?!?!
HELLO?!?!?!
Someone explain to how that is acceptable.
From Joe_jo's second question about tortoises, he got told this is CORN SNAKE chat. (Funny, just after entering the room someone got called a butthead didn't know that was corn snakey). Got asked if this looked like a tortoise chat room. Got told they have shells (DUH!). Got told they swim (WRONG.). Got mocked with "dis is da cron sankie chat room" and then told to gtfo. All of this BEFORE his SPAZ session . . . Interesting.Chatroom said:Joe_Jo: does n e one know n e thing about tortoises
Serpwidgets_CS: Dude
hana_CS: This is CORN SNAKE chat
CARattler40_CS: Just ignore it
CARattler40_CS: It'll go away.
Serpwidgets_CS: LOL
CornCrazy_CS: Ummm...does this look like a tortoise room?
terrysangel79_CS: they got shells i think lol
CornCrazy_CS: we are discussing corn snakes...
CornCrazy_CS: LOL
CARattler40_CS: They swim.
breedingcolors_CS: Here are the babies from the first clutch, the second clutch I got 2 amels, 4 normals and this one
breedingcolors_CS: http://www.breedingcolors.com/english/pairing01.html
Joejr14_CS: dis is da cron sankie chat room
Joejr14_CS: gtfo
Weebonilass_CS: <--- checking snakie for hard shell............ nope, no travel trailer
jazzgeek_CS: I know some thing about tortoises.
stephen_CS: they dont swim Carlos
CornCrazy_CS: Their lungs are positioned in a weird place.
CARattler40_CS: SHHH
jazzgeek_CS: and that thing is "Tortoises are not corn snakes".
Joe_joe's Spaz follows . . .
What's it mean when you're already in the place and act like an ass?! That's a more important question and one I think Rich is asking us to think about. Am I defending this guy? Nope. But I don't condone the reaction that he received neither. I guess if you want to talk Lesser Of Two Evils, yeah fine, but that doesn't remove the Classless way he was treated either.Joejr14 said:When you come into a place and act like an ass, expect to be treated like one. This person came in, disrupted the chat that was going on, and then flipped out when he wasn't answered. Is someone REALLY going to defend this guy? Look at all that cussing, please, someone defend him.
Walk away! Corn Chat doesn't define you as a person does it?! Srsly?!Joejr14 said:This crap happens just about every night.
Thanks for more ammunition . . . not a good example . . .Joejr14 said:Since we're showing snippets, here's another good one. So look, Clarinet comes into a private chat room and what are the first words out of her mouth? "Why can't we talk about boas?"
I've been in chat, I enjoy going into chat when my schedule allows, I love venting in chat, I love conversations in chat, I love the people in chat, I love the debates in chat . . . There is no way I can love nor defend the language and behavior that is displayed towards Non-CS members that are Off-topic. Srsly . . . Yes, it's High School.Joejr14 said:Another thing---if you guys haven't been in chat, I think it's a bit absurd that you're making judgement and generalizations about this. Hate to disagree, but for the record, this guy started his rant well after Joejr told him to gtfo. Unless you're saying Rich edited the chat log . . .Serpwidgets said:For the record, this guy clearly started typing his nastyness BEFORE Joejr said "gtfo."

Ah, the "out of context" defense. A classic.Joejr14 said:Who in the hell is complaining that they're off topic? If people would bother to see the WHOLE picture and not just a snippet of a conversation, you'd see that.
Someone needs to explain how coming into the chat where a conversation is taking place and going:
HELLO DOES NE1 HERE HAVE TORTITOSES?!??
(no response in 10 seconds).....
Agreed, to a point. As I've already opined, articulate questions win out over inarticulate ones, no doubt. But, as the logs indicate, they're not being ignored. Pack instincts have smelled out fresh meat. The reaction would be totally different if said person came into chat and said the following:
Hey guys, sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if anyone here had any torts and could help me with a question I have?
I GUARANTEE you that that person would get an answer, instead of being ignored.
Rich's point exactly. He's calling for an end to such behavior. When you come into a place and act like an ass, expect to be treated like one.
As does the pack mentality. This crap happens just about every night.
And again I say.....I am sorry, but it's that same type of crap night and in night out....it gets old.
And Rich has asked that we alter our expectations, and thus, our behavior, lest we lose the privilege he's given us. Why is that so difficult to understand?Maybe we were wrong to jump on Joe_Jo, but it's to be expected when you've had to deal with that same situation time and time again for a week and a half straight.
I think the point is people who haven't been to chat have found no incentive to do so, given what they may face, as evidenced by the transcript.Another thing---if you guys haven't been in chat, I think it's a bit absurd that you're making judgement and generalizations about this. - First off, whenever I come into chat, it's NEVER "a" conversation. It's multiple conversations, overlapping each other. Why shouldn't someone coming into the room have the ability to begin their own conversations? I could cite MANY instances where you yourself have entered chat and posted something not relevant to the topics at hand, e.g., a crappy shift at Blockbuster. Moving forward, do I have license to respond with "off topic - gtfo" to you??
- 10 seconds? Are you timing splits with a stopwatch?
Rich's point exactly. He's calling for an end to such behavior.

Not that anyone should give a rodent's gluteals about what disappoints me, but these two replies disappoint me. I was a major participant in the thread you reference, Chris, and I just re-read it to make sure my memory of it is accurate. It is. That thread was a discussion-- sometimes heated, but never really ugly. How you two compare that thread with the contents of this chat log is way beyond me.
There was nothing shameful about it, Jim. The only thing close to shameful in that thread was an off-color remark by the original poster for which she was temp-banned.
Go read the last post in that thread Chris. Your assessment then, when the thread was fresh, was very different from what you wrote in the post I quoted. Where's the mistreatment? :shrugs:

BillyBobob: I don't know about the whole "chat-clique" theory, man. I go in there occasionally, and I sure don't feel like part of any clique. Maybe there is one, and I'm just not part of it. Maybe they talk about me behind my back. But you know what? I'm an adult with more important things to worry about. I don't give an act of airbourne procreation about what happens in chat, whether I'm in the chat room or not. It's just chat.
Scolding? Nope. Just doing my usual schtick of pointing out ironies and inconsistencies - my own included. As I stated in my first post of this thread, I see the validity of Rich's point.Joejr14 said:Dale, you are in chat with us every night, see these problems, and have acted quite often in the same manner that we did last night----and now you're scolding us?
Save your eyeroll. First off, I'm all for tort reform. :grin01:After this post of yours, I certainly hope I never see you in chat scolding someone about coming into a cornsnake chat room and talking about 'torts.
jazzgeek_CS: I know some thing about tortoises.
