First hook-ups for me!!

Seriously?? That would put me at day 59???? They all did dimple on the 9th of this month. but they all plumped back up the next day..except 1. All the eggs's shells are very soft..seemly thinner than when first laid. this could be it eh?? (Deep Breath) Ok...the biggest hurdle is yet to come.

If you counted that today is day 56 then it is day 56, the smell and them hatching would not change how many days it has been LOL. When they hatch it will probably be day 59-62. Mine took like 4 days to all hatch so patience is key now.

Ok,
I apologize for not making much sense...really excited here....So...anyway...being of a scientific mind..and wanting to make sure of what i was smelling...as my nose is rather suspect...everyone tells me my feet stink...but i cant smell a thing..ya know?? anyway...I took some of the orchid moss...and soaked it in some water at near the same temp as whats in the incubator.....Way different smell.....not even close...(Deep Breath). Ok...I guess now would be a good time to start warming up the hatchling rack..

Patience?? :roflmao:

Patience moved out at about day 35 or so! and Anxiety & insanity moved in.

Trust me I know how you feel ;) two weeks ago I was right there with you. Once they eat their first meal you begin to relax slowly, the more they eat the more relaxed you get until you begin to realize you need to choose your keepers and find homes for the rest :( Then it gets kinda sad. It's worse when they don't eat for you, but I think this year is going to be a good year for hatchlings eating. I just have a good feeling :D

I can only hope your right...it would Absolutely KILL me to see any of these lil fella's not thrive. In my mind, my "keepers" have already been decided...if it's a blizzard...it's staying here. I'm REALLY hoping for a pair of Blizzards as they will be het Hypo. Not visually stunning when bred back to one another..but genetically speaking...I'll KNOW they are homo hypo. And perhaps with the Hypo gene in play..maybe...just maybe...these f2 babies will show less yellow than normal,As Holmes Showed very little yellow..and Zena has 0 yellow.. it's just a thought.

Ohh looks like your getting close. On both of my clutches we got the "green pepper" smell the day before little noses started popping up. I walked in the room and I swear i looked in all the tanks, behind shelves, checked the trash can... I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the smell was lol. Finally i gave up looking and opened the incubator to check the eggs and i smelled it even more... Of course then i went crazy checking for mold and such then finally got on here and looked it up :p That calmed be down for about 10seconds then i was omg there gonna hatch soon!!! I can't wait to see the little guys! Post lots and lots and lots of pictures :)

Ooh! Exciting! Looks like you won't have to wait till next weekend after all :D I'm gonna be glued to this thread even more tho. Will be kinda sad when it ends tho, since it's had such a monster following lol.

Perhaps while we are waiting, this would be a good time for me to pose a very very serious question....Which came first? The egg or the snake :bang:?!

Seriously though, I am excited for you and I fully expect at least a dozen pics with a focus on "worm pile" pics, which are of course my favorite!

*grabs Rich by the arms and jumps up and down crazily* OMG I'm so excited for you, this is craaaazy and I can't wait until you see your first nose!!!

LOL,

Yeah it's getting close...I had a dream i was chasing baby snakes in an amazon setting...in some ancient ruins. pretty weird..but....

theres a nasty storm brewing outside...maybe the change in barometric pressure will entice the little ones to hurry up? Lol

well, Most likely the snake....it is a good "thinker" question though.

This question is for those that have hatched more than 1 clutch of eggs.
What's the procedure for dealing with the babies as they exit the shell? what i mean is...do i take each one after they are out, wipe the goop off them? or do you just leave them altogether till the whole mess is done? Also..as long as the babies are fully formed..with no egg yolks hanging out....is it Ok to put them on DRY paper towels? or should the towel's be dampened? and of course..at some point pics will need to be taken....is the preferred method...individual pics, group shots, or just a butt load of both??

I take the baby out, take a nice photo of it, put it in its bin with a dry paper towel and a clump of damp moss. (And the water bowl and whatever else). Last year I fed the day after they shed. They go into blue really fast after hatching.
