First hook-ups for me!!

Just to add to the above post.....She hasn't refused any meal once she got going again after laying the clutch of eggs. She's been taking adult mice the last 3 weeks.

Welp... I am not going to help much here but it sounds like she maybe double clutching on you. I only felt 10 lumps in Ginny with only a few of them feeling firm. So I figured that she was only going to lay a few fertile. WRONG!!!! 10 fertile 3 slugs.

well,
this snake (Zena) has obviously never read kathy's book on how cornsnakes should act!! she took longer than expected to lay...she didnt refuse her mate when she was apparently gravid....the eggs...well they are taking after mom....Although, i cant really say that, as we havent passed the 70 day mark. to be honest..i have no freakin' clue whats going on. I guess I'll just sit here in this chair..hands draped limply to my sides...and twitch..somewhat like a bowl of jello....

:roflmao::roflmao: Great visual cause that is about what I am feeling like at the moment as well. I told my husband that I was only going to breed Ginny this year just in case something happened and he had to take care of the babies he would only have 1 clutch. Well now I am thinking 30 babies later I really should have went ahead and bred Smitty too.

LOL....yeah, i just hope zena isnt planning on a Bunch.....i only feel 2. but isnt she supposed to lay these eggs at about the time the first clutch is hatching????

Yes, Rich, she will lay the second clutch within days of the first clutch hatching. But she should go blue first. I would prepare her viv just as you did for the first clutch now. Put in the lay box and take away the big water bowl. She will probably continue to pound the mice till you stop feeding her, when she goes blue again.

LOL....Not at all!!! :) Are you kidding me?? :roflmao:

"what do you mean I was supposed to pick the kids up at the pool at 5:00pm?? (looking at watch...it's 8:35pm....and Just realized it's been quite all day...no kids...CRAP!!!)

Not me..no way...no how! uh uh

Ummm...Is there ANYTHING else more important??? LOL

wait...phones ringing....it's the bank....yeah....uh huh...ok...CRAP!!!

well, I missed the morgage payment too.....But i did pick up 3 nice rack sytems!! LOL (Just kidding).

well geesh... maybe that means i can get a baby from ya if she is just going to keep popping them out left and right lol

hope all goes well this time! =]

Thanks!! And yeah....we'll have to see..if these next 2 are fertile..and are blizzards...then i'm keeping'em! LOL

I hope if your girl double clutches that hers are good for you. Shade's second clutch was a bust. Went to check on the two that looked good and they had burst on one side with maggots all over! We have only seen like 2 flies in the last 3 weeks! Was so gross and saddening. On a happier note seems this year is the year of the good eaters! My babies are all like NOM NOM NOM FOOD! ;)

I can Only feel 2 bumps..and they arent big lumps...So..They are probably slugs....but we will see.

Ok,

Went to check the eggs....There is an odd smell...not a rotten smell...but more like green pepper??? Could be the new orchid moss i put in 2 days ago, just to keep the tops nice and soft...and to give the pippies some place to hide.
