helping people?

I don’t understand this at all. I love all the animals on the planet and want nothing but the best for them. I want all the people of the world to do things my way because I know what is best for their animals. If you don’t agree with me I will be so mean and cruel to you that you will never come back. That way I won’t ever again have to try to explain what I know to be right. You are just stupid and I don’t ever want to talk to you again and I don’t care if you co-hab your snakes and they all die. But I only care about all the animals in the world and I want all the children in Africa to be happy and love soft furry things and……

I'm sending my hedgehog to Vicki with instructions to let him loose in your jammies.

As for the first person who started this thread, first off I think before someone goes out and buys a cornsnake, they should do whatever they need to do to already know how to care for it.Study up on them.I always suggest they buy Kathy Loves Book The Cornsnake Manuel,it has everything you will need to be successfull with your new pet.
As for some of the people who ask some things alot of times they ask questions that are easily found under the search opton.
As for advice, I have given plenty advice, which I try not to anymore,I once was asked does my female look big enough to breed she was but was very overweight,so I suggested she didnt breed it.She went ahead and bred it anyway, later the snake died eggbound. Then she came back crying saying how her snake died..........:poke:
So no matter what advice you give rarely does anyone take it and it seems they ALWAYS rather do things there way anyway and learn things the hard way!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (my 2 cents)...........

Hiding behind a screen, like driving a car, is essentially an anonymous activity. Were the forum to be held in person, there would probably be little to no flaming because this community generally consists of very nice people. However, the upside to the situation is that due to the anonymity the web provides, all answers and opinions are honest, not littered with fluff, and not catering to the whims of others' feelings, which is, IMHO, important to animal welfare.

Relax, my friend. Jesus will be back-- 18 months-- TOPS. All creatures, naked and fuzzy, will find peace.

I hope you're talking about the Jesus who was our shop helper several years ago. He was the best one we had. I thought he went back to Texas?

Honesty can be a hard pill to take. The OP was right to a point...but so are the people saying that its the newbies own fault how they're treated. To a point.
Its not a bad thing for us to take a little slap on the wrist to remind us to play nice. I TRY so hard to speak to people online like I would in real life...but I have a habbit of being kinda brutally honest in person too... Knowing that helps. That way I know to try to temper what I say sometimes.

I try and remind myself how it must feel. You pop up on a board as a newbie to proudly show off your new snake and setup, only for people to tell you it's too hot, too cold, too humid, too dry, the wrong substrate, the wrong thermometer, the wrong heater, the wrong hides, the wrong lights etc.

It must be extremely irritating, especially if you've put effort and money into doing/ buying everything that your local pet shop or "expert" has told you to. It's not easy to take the advice of a bunch of internet people you've only just met, above that of people you know face-to-face.
