I am NOT a Satan Worshiper

Wow, that guy needs help. Wanting you to kill your PET because of his twisted perceptions? Now THAT'S sick!

The only thing I have ever been called that had to do with me being owned by snakes was "a scary Goth chick". Thinking of that always makes me smile. I am a dumpy frumpy middle-aged woman! :)

Even though I am Pagan.. I have to say it is rather interesting to hear different Christians interpretations of the same thing. Mike's statement seems to be the most logical of the interpretations I have seen.

You say this as if everyone claiming to be a "pagan" has the same interpretation for their beliefs (or even what that word means).......lol. Personal interpretations are a faucet of being HUMAN - not of having one faith system over another.

No I never said anything of the kind. The variation on pagan beliefs completely outnumber the variations of different christian beliefs. Your last sentence also doesn't apply to my statement either. The ONLY thing I was saying as that even though I have a different belief system... I am fascinated by different interpretations of the bible by different christians. Simply put.. it is intellectually stimulating to me.

What I find terribly amusing/frustrating are those who believe that these species walked the Earth at the same time......

I don't really get how magic can work, so religious discussions end quickly for me, but I have to wonder what other's beliefs really are when I see and hear statements like this:
Even though I am christan and I do believe in God and in Jesus..I am also open to the idea of evolution...As time passed I went from being told to understand what I only could read about to deciding to morely accept science and it's evidence....I guess I'm one of those..believe is when I see it kind of people...

Perhaps the beliefs are similar to this. I pretty much ascribe to it.

Why thank you...It's not often people listen to my theories, let alone think they may be sound:grin01:
I got loads if you want to hear them:boring:

The guy in this situation was quite possibly mentally ill, no functioning human being does/says that sort of thing.

I really think the main problem with Christians now a days is people add and subtract from the bible what they want to hear and what they don't want to hear. For instance the previous comment about the snake being adams penis, no where does it even remotely imply that. Obviously people are free to make their own implications and come up with whatever ridiculous theories they please, but it does not mean they are accurate or even sensible. The argument that God created the world in seven days is easily explained. The bible tells us that God is omnipresent and is not bound by time, therefore he is everywhere at all times. Therefore the world was created by God in his timing and for our understanding was written down as seven days. These seven days(as another poster said earlier) could have been millions of years to our understanding.

I believe that religion requires faith....Faith is the fundamental criteria for religion to work. Every God asks for this...To truly believe without a scrap of evidence ...
Science is the 'red herrings' placed their to undermine faith......
Try reading up on the Bombardier beetle, (One of the animals that is used to disprove evolution)

That's pretty good, lemme see if I got it.
If you need guidance to be moral try religion.
For everything else; formation of Earth, how life happened, what happens after we shut off, "find" science?

No, while some people (Sunday Morning Christians for example) use religion simply to say they live a moral life, others myself included use my beliefs(I hate the world religion it has such a horrible connotation) to explain everything. And I truly mean everything.

What's so horrible about the word religion? If religion helps people to lead moral lives and get along with others it's a good thing.

Yep, Pagans are probably the least likely to confer on how things should be done. The only real constant in Paganism is change. That's why I love it so much.

I also find it extremely interesting to see different interpretations of scripture in the Bible. I have studied the Bible, and really find it fascinating as a book/literature.

Because religion is just a set of completely absurd man made rules, while I have a relationship with my God and through that I can follow the rules that my God had put in place not some pope.

So if I would ask you if you were a religious person, you would say no?

Forgive me if I have a differing view, but in my perspective there is a difference between faith and religion. It is crucial to any sort of religious debate.

Religion, in its most barebone sense, is a construct or a structure within one fulfills his or her faith. religions vary differently and to me, no one religion is right or "the only".

Faith is independent of the construct (or religion) within which one chooses and is independent of the rituals one performs as part of a religion. It is shared and is common between many different peoples all over the world, and it is faith which ties us together as humanity. Faith can be called many things in many different religions.

Does this make sense?

This is why I feel comfortable praying in a church as well as in a temple as well as in the woods. To me the construct does not matter, it is the faith that matters, regardless of scripture and regardless of religion.

That makes sense.
Still, though, religion is basically a good thing.
I don't have faith in magic stuff, but you can't dispute the good that a church does in the community.
