The canine dose for benedryl is 1mg/pound. A 25 pound dog could get a 25mg tablet 2-3 times a day. This may cause the dog to be quite sleepy, though. Don't try it just before a competition ;) Honestly, I would start with a half dose to see how sleepy it will make her.

I haven't tried Benedryl! But enough dramamine to keep her from puking also made her dopey. It's okay, really, I think it's neat that she can do an agility course, but I don't really have time for it anymore and have adjusted to the fact that she is just not a traveling kind of dog. Oh well. :shrugs:

Re: Yoda - Now THOSE are some ears. :D They rival my Jerry Lee's ears.

This is my old man, Jerry. He's a shepherd/great pyrenees mix that I got from the rescue 12 years ago after he'd been in there twice. Somehow the first people to "try him on" didn't think they meant it when they said he was going to get BIG. They returned him, mannerless and unhousebroken and unleashbroken at 4-5 months of age weighing 60 pounds. An 8 week simple puppy training course and he became the perfect gentleman. At his heaviest, he weighed 120, but he has lost some weight in old age and now is closer to 100. The old man is retired to the quiet farm life now (my mother dotes on him continuously) where he acts as foot warmer for the cats outside, and hobbles about the farm at his leisure, to return to a full food dish and a big pillow at mom's feet when he's ready to come in. Yeah, he's got the life and he knows it. Mom doesn't even make him behave anymore, so he gets to bark whenever he feels like it. :grin01: Jerry has had mild hip dysplasia his entire life, he's had both cranial cruciates rupture and therefore had 2 TPLO's, and now he's suffering from degenerative myelopathy (a progressive loss of myelin on the spinal cord leading to loss of signal to the back legs). He is coping well and is as happy as ever, just slaps those rear legs out at random to walk, so his gait is interesting to say the least.

Well, here's Jerry in his younger years...

Here's Tivoli, the lab/chow and Bob, the Holstein cross. Seriously, he's 130 lbs. We don't know exactly what he is, setter/St. Bernard or something? The pic of him in the chair was before he was full size.

This is our Lady. Hubby found her running loose on an extremely busy 4 lane highway in the rain. When we were unable to locate her owner, we decided to keep her and she's turned out to be the BEST dog a family could have!

To Jen:

Nope, I haven't finished her yet. She got 6 points with a major out of puppy class, then my new job put the kabosh on my showing schedule. She's going to spend this spring with my buddy (her breeder) to finish her championship and breed to her male (which we've been planning for years, now). Since my friend is out in Hawaii now, it's best to get it all done at once. ;) The whole import / rabies quarantine process is a pain. :grin01:

Here's my 5 1/2 year old Golden Retriever, Jersey:

And here's Jersey as a puppy:

This is my sheltie, Kineesa, who'll be 8 in a few weeks. She still lives at home on the farm though with the rest of the shelties.

And here's the dachsund puppy that I'll be driving from WI to AZ to get in about a month or so. :santa:

Cool, a chance to show off my husky, Mindy (a puppy pic and a recent adult pic). She's high maintenance, and extremely jealous of me paying attention to any other living thing, but luckily (for her sake, lol), she's cute enough to make me overlook that... most of the time. The last pic is my wife's new Shih Tzu puppy, Buddy. He's the newest non-snake addition to the family.

Well...I've got a few dogs as well...I actually have 9, and another foster dog that is coming back soon because the people who took him didn't realize he wasn't house trained (even tho my mom told them he wasn't...)...so they're giving him back...after my mom took a whole day to drive it down to them....Oh well! We've got 5 cocker spaniels that we've had forever! Two of them are 10 years old! We used to breed cockers.... And we've got one italian greyhound, one miniature pinscher, one husky mix (we think he's got german shepherd and rottie in him....) and of course, my lil baby toy poodle! She's not really a baby, she's actually 5 years old, but she's still my baby! The first picture is of B'Gee (the poodle) a few days after I shaved her. I have to do it like every month...and then she's so silky...
The second and third pictures are of Chadeaux *pronounced "Shadow"* (the italian greyhound). The one of him under the computer desk is so erie!
The fourth picture is of our husky mix Draco. I have a special bond with him because I had to wake up at 5:30 every morning when he was a puppy to feed him with a bottle. We've had him from the point he was about 10 days old.
The fifth picture is of our little min pin Beamer. He's pictured here with a wonderful bright green cast on his little toothpick of a leg. Draco was excited one night and he ran into him, and it snapped the poor baby's bone! It was terrible! I even wrote a story about it!
Anyways...here they are!

That cracked me up. What a beautiful picture. My mom just informed me that after taking Belle my english bulldog to the vet that she is indead mostly blind.

But the vet said she was health as a horse and that they should put jingle bells in her toys so she can find them and needs someone outside with her so she can find her way.

She's still the happiest dog on the face of the earth.

Well here's my little boy Cisero. He's almost 2 now and enjoys being with me in the reptile room. The second pic is of the one that didn't get away :-offtopic

I just noticed this thread. Man I've been slacking lately. You guys have seen some of the ankle-biter Yorkies in a few pics I've already posted, so I'll post my favorite big dog Shunka Ska. Her name means "white dog" in Souix. She started off really light colored. We didn't think she'd get this red. She'll be 5 this January.

I went to our local animal shelter today to look for a dog for my daughter for christmas (our dachshund is to much like a cat and won't like my daughter play with her  ). I found the sweetest little Beagle/Basset mix! Now to convince hubby that this is the dog we should get. lol

ooooh, I'm soooo jealous of you all! I grew up with dogs up until I left Australia about 4 years ago and I miss them!

My last dog was a wonderful short coat border collie x curly coat retriever who was honestly the sweetest, smartest, most trainable pup you could ever meet (I know we all say that about our dogs but in her case it really was true!) I gave her to my then boyfriend (we split on good terms when I left to go traveling for a year...the rest is history) and then we lost touch when he realised I wasn't coming back in a hurry!

Reading this thread makes me miss having a dog all the more...but apartment living and a full time job doesn't make it very easy.

I'm looking forward to when I can have a dog again so much, I'll just live through all of yours for now.

Beautiful dogs everyone

 OMG tsthompson that is SO disgusting!! Warn people before you post pictures of dead animals.. I'm not gunna sleep for a week now ~,~ *throws up* :puke01:

So what about the dead pheasants in the post below that one? I'm curious...how can you react like that to dead "prey," but yet feed mice to your snakes? I am not trying to be rude, Ijust don't understand your reaction.
