mouse bite--owch :(

I wonder if by "pulling out" he is not really cutting the front teeth down. the reason I say this is my daughter had a Cavy that we had to cut down its front teeth with what looked like dog nail clippers. If he is really just cutting the front teeth down then he is not hurt the mouse or rat one little bit because they normally are shorter in wild animals were they can gnaw all the time.

Just a guess on my part.

Love the Fatman

OMGosh I hope so. Just reading it is making my stomach hurt. But yes and we did it for rabbits too!

No. That's disgusting and wrong, you should NEVER shop at that store and report them to the authorities. By shopping there, you are encouraging that horrifying practice. That is not ok.

Seriously. That is NOT ok. It will NEVER be ok. That's sick and wrong and something needs to be done about it. Report that man.

I am sorry but pulling teeth, if that is really what he is doing is cruel. If there is a concern with the snake getting bit (which there should be) then the snake should be fed F/T. If he fed frozen in the first place then the snake would not have been bit and all of the mice would not have to have the teeth yanked out of them then be bitten and painfully squeezed until you can't breath. Even without pulling the teeth feeding live to a snake is cruel IMO.

when i said that i ment he doesnt get enjoyment out of it. and i already discussed why he feeds live with him. he tries to get them to eat fresh killed or f/t but some of the snakes he owns have already matured by the time he got them so he didnt raise them... the previous owners let them eat live so the agression of trying to catch your dinner while its running for its life around the tank kind of stuck with it... some of his snakes ownt accept it unless its moving....

Well then you can move the dead mouse on tongs so that it is moving....
or convert it.

When I first started keeping snakes in the 90s I belonged to a herp club. One of the members kept a huge variety of wild caught local snakes for educational purposes, he had black racers, eastern milks, eastern kings, eastern hoggies and water snakes and every single one of them ate f/t prey. He had this one snake, a dog tame black racer named "one eyed Jack" because somehow he lost an eye before Bob caught him. He was the coolest thing, and ate f/ted like it was going out of style!! Bob told me he tamed him by letting him bite until he was tired and slowly realized that humans were not a danger to him.

And you know, it is perfectly LEGAL to do anything to a feeder animal. But what he is doing is cruel and wrong and sick. You say that a news story wouldn't hurt him, because he sells so many cool things but most people don't own animals like this, and would not be impressed with all his "cool stuff".
Imagine on a slow news day....headlining the 6pm news...."This man's actions are so disturbing that even his peers are speaking out against it". Followed by an in depth report of the allegations, complete with undercover camera recordings of what he does, complete with the mouse squealing in agony. Complete with interviews of other herp keepers "in the know" talking about the humane way their feeder mice are treated. Are you quite certain that this would not hurt him?

Mouse bite? Ahh, you'll be fine. Keep it clean and make sure it doesn't get it infected. I don't think you'll need a tetanus shot.

I have a month old RAT bite that was more of a puncture wound, and it is still F'd up, bad enough that I wish I'd gone to the doctor and had it cleaned and such. I'm gonna have a nasty scar, and it hurts a LOT even with the slightest touch. I can't help but think I have some damage to the bone in there... she bit my palm, and I yanked and hand back with rat on it. Yeah... not pretty..

he offers frozen, fresh killed ( which he kills it right then and there in front of you) or you can buy them alive and to protect the owner and the snake he takes a pair of needle nose pliers and yanks the teeth out.... so the mouse cant bite.... idk its his way of doing things...

...That can't be humane, but I think that's a good idea if you have just a few snakes that need live, ESPECIALLY if it's a rat. Bothers me that people are saying just convert the snake, but some snakes just WON'T eat f/t or even p/k. Corns spoil people.

If wild caught black racers can be converted (and yes I saw it with my own eyes) maybe most people should just try harder.....

i dont think the hidden camera thing would work... but as a a camerap ans out the store or shows the front with all the pictures of exotics and what not i think he would get some business.... the news wouldnt only say he just does that they would also say something along the lines of this " he does also offer frozen and fresh mice as well" you get what im saying how they wouldnt completely bash him?

I've seen people on BP.net say that feeding live is easier than f/t. Some people are just lazy. :/ And then there were people plain out calling me stupid for feeding in another container. Lovely people. :smash:

You don't seem to know much about the media. Since the whole angle is the story would be the needless cruelty of the animals, and sensationalizing it as much as possible, I am thinking he would be MORE than bashed. And remember, many of us reading your post are horrified and sickened by what he does. And we are reptile keepers!! Imagine what the outcry would be from the general public!

Could be worse. I was installing a new wheel in my rat cage about a year ago and one of my girls snuck up and bit me on the nose! Right on the tip of my nose... I have two scars there now. Took forever to heal and still hurt occasionally. The worst was explaining at work what happened to my nose.

I shouldn't have giggled, but I bet that's always a fun story to tell. :punch:

luckily you can only tell if you're rightinmyface now... and if you're that close, I'm probably not gonna be happy :p

I also have a big scar under my lip that required 13 stitches after an iguana decided to latch on with his mouth. If you're looking for it, you can see it, but otherwise it's almost invisible.

@lock off; from the few posts I have read of you so far I get the idea that your view on the is slightly off, as to say. Animal cruelty is never legitimate, and this is animal cruelty.
Further, whether this guy sells cool stuff or does not enjoy pulling the teeth has nothing to do with it. The reason why he does it is not important, there is no reason to pull an animal's teeth out without sedation. Think with me; someone is pulling out your teeth. Is that ok if the guy has a nice house and sells cool stuff? Is it ok because he does not want you to get caries? Is it ok if he does not like doing it? Come on dude... seriously....

You KNOW that's wrong, don't even try to defend it. It's sick and if he's really hurting them he needs to be stopped. Report him to the the local animal control, the police department, etc. Report him to whoever can do something about that.

So you don't care because you prefer to give him your money and let him do what he does. As I said before, yes what he does is LEGAL because feeder aniamal are not protected by any law, but it is still appalling.
If the media got in there, I am sure the general public would force him to change his ways.
I am not a religious person, but I do believe in Karma, and I personally hope he suffers greatly for what he does.

no i dont care because its not my business. he sells what i a need to so i buy. adn since feeder animals arent protected then why make a deal? why say report him? like i said aint nothing gonna happen....

If I knew his name and location, the media WOULD be alerted.
Just because something is not illegal, does not make it right. There are many other places that have what you need, it says something about you that you choose to give money to this monster.
There has to be something seriously wrong with you if this does not bother you.

"People" like him (and apparently you) give this hobby a kick in the teeth. People who are thoughtlessly cruel give the PETA freaks and the policitians another tool to ban our hobby. It is up to us to regulate our own and what this guy does should be ended. He needs to be outed by others in THIS community and denounced for his actions. And if someone from inside the hobby did it it would show the public that not all reptile keepers are like this creep.

I have one question for you, how would you like it if you had your teeth pulled out of your head and then you got constricted by a snake. That is so inhumane and gross, I hope he knows he is going to hell. I'm sorry but that is unacceptable.
