My corn snake Ruby kills Adult male mouse.

Cruelty is cruelty no matter what when the hands of humans are involved. Animals are not cruel. Humans are. It's the only real difference between us. And people who are okay with and/or perpetuate cruelty against animals are usually not that far from excusing that same behaviour when directed against a human being. It is, in fact, an early sign of sociopathy as it shows an appalling lack of empathy.

Apes laugh and mourn. Elephants feel sorrow, joy, and understand death. My first dog had nightmares for months after we were forced to euthanise his 'sibling'.

To claim that animals don't feel emotions is simply, scientifically proven, wrong. They may not be as complex because of a lack of ability to dwell on them for the most part, but that doesn't mean that OUR feelings didn't come from them.

We ARE animals. The human animal.

And again I say that if it's okay for one animal to die in terror, then it's okay for the human animal... and (generic)yourself... to die so too.

I raise mice and rats, And I wish this post would just go away. :fullauto:The post started out to be a pointless video of a snake eating a live rodent. (notice the word "pointless"). The video was in bad taste. I think the first couple of pages explain that. I dont care how my mice feel before they die, but I do respect them.( I think "respect" is the key word here) If you feed live that is your choice, good for you. I dont care to see it... and I think your thinking outside the box statement is also pointless. We are not selling anything here, and no one is here to change peoples mind. We all think different and to give your view is one thing to argue is a total other. We are here to share information, and experiences.

And the Troll that posted this is getting his rocks off, seeing that his post has gone to 27 pages.... Let the post die..... Besides this about feeding ...Not feeders

And recently, scientists have discovered that rats actually laugh. It is a sound inaudible to the human ear, but it is there.
And I KNOW rats mourn the loss of a cagemate, I've seen it.
(and they are capable of recognizing up to 1000 individuals in their colony).

Thats...cool. I am still stomping a mouse if I see it in my house or around my house. And still poisen them. I just don't feel that way about nuiscance animals.

Its great that yall do, but I don't. I could care less if something dies.

Well some people die in terror. So I guess I can to. I have no idea how I will die and I can't control that. Thats not even valid in this argument really.

It IS okay to die in terror. IT happens EVERYDAY...could happen to you. You don't have control over that.

I wish this thread would go away too and yet here I am posting in it...

Everyone is going to have different opinions - that is a fact of life. What one person sees as cruel, another may see as normal.

I think what needs to be realized here though is this....
This is a forum of people who love their animals and want nothing but the best for them. Most of us take great care that if/when we do have to feed live that we do it in the most humane way possible for the mouse and the safest way for the snake.

What COerriccaRN needs to realize is that by continuing to broadcast her opinion (which she is entitled to) she just keeps continuing to stir the pot. I am not saying she is right or wrong - it is her opinion, but to keep pushing how she doesn't care about the "feelings" of animals on an "animal lover" forum is just pure suicide. All she is doing is getting everyone riled up and up in arms against her because her opinion doesn't jive with how most of us feel around here. Honestly, the best thing to do would be to just drop it...we are never going to change her mind and she is never going to change ours.

I would highly suggest in the future that any talk of killing animals for the sake of killing them, or discussion about how one does not care about how an animal feels whilst dieing be talked about on another forum where people may understand and relate to you vs. on this forum where you will just continually be attacked for your thoughts and feelings on the matter.

Totally missed the point! (Deliberately, I suspect...)

Of course random events will cause living things to die in fear. The question is whether or not it's morally acceptable for someone to deliberately cause another another thing to die in terror.

Let me assure you, if I were going to feed you to a very large snake, I'd gas you first - because I feel empathy.

I tried... Dang it.

I did it for ya!! ;)

Well, I am pretty much done with this nightmare. I think I have said all that I can. I can only repeat myself so many times, without sounding like a broken record.

Buzzard; I agree to a point. But let's leave it at that!

Really??? ~~Runs up to rats and makes a funny face at it~~~~ ??either it;'s laughing or sniffing at me for food lol..

I have noticed the loss issue when an old cage mate dies and what I hate the most is taking the pups away from the mothers. I wouldn't want someone to take my new babies from me to feed to something.. Thank goodness they don't know that but I hate the pacing for a day or two.

Gotta feed the snakes though..

And that's why you are "different".
Lack of empathy is a sad sad thing.......

Like I have said before, its an animal. It never crosses my mind to how they feel when dying. It probably never will.

OMG I can't beleive you do that to that poor momma mouse that is so unethical! How would YOU like someone to take your children away?!?!

I'm just joking, but thats what this thread sounds like to me...pretty ridiculous.

I think its kinda neat how everyone has such different opinions and veiws...

Not to me...not to ALOT of people on this forum that I have got PMs from agreeing with me. I'm no different than you are. I think everyone on here is "different" because they are all for animals and care soooo much about what they think. Thats "weird" to me, but its not a bad thing. Just foreign.

I was just thinking...my herp friends used to make fun of me for vetting my pet rats and having tumors removed and such...when I'd buy frozen ones to feed my BRB. It doesn't make much logical sense, but they were my buddies. :)

I have 2 pet rats now. If they need a vet, they get it. They do alot to improve the quality of MY life, so I do the same for them....
