• Hello!

Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.

Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....

Please be certain that the location field is correctly filled out when you register. All registrations that appear to be bogus will be rejected. Which means that if your location field does NOT match the actual location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected.

Sorry about the strictness of this requirement, but it is necessary to block spammers and scammers at the door as much as possible.

I could use a good laugh, but I'm afraid I'll just end up facepalming through them both. Maybe I'll save 'em for later.

(e) OH It's bad lip reading YAY!

What part of this does anyone not understand?

Since I am not particularly a FaceBork participant, what are the significant differences? What does a "like" button actually do that you would find attractive here?

It's a running tally of people who looked at your post, or photo, and "liked" it. On Facebook, it would say 94 people liked this post.

Lost all my happy points when they changed the site....I'm now pouting in the corner! 13 years of playing here and I was wiped clean in one fell swoop!

UNlike FB where there is no "dislike" button at least there is an option with giving reputation :dgrin:

This is an especially GOOD post!
This is an especially BAD post!

I have given advice and been thanked in a post but the person accidentally (I hope haha) gave me "bad reputation".....

I don't "LIKE" any posts on FB because you get notifications like "Jack/Jill also liked Jill/Jacks post. Plus I'm not narcissistic enough to care if someone "likes" my rare postings  lol

obviously there is a difference between "Reputation" and "Liking."

On facebook you can "Like" a post and it means just that - you like it.

On this website I would not want to boost somebody's "Reputation" just because they say something I like. Reputation goes much deeper. You could post something off the wall and totally gross and even wrong, and I might still "Like" it, but to add to your reputation would not do the corn snake forum justice.

I understand there is "Bad Reputation" too, but you can't delete what the person doesn't have to begin with. If their reputation is Nil or 1, giving a bad mark is really meaningless.

There is merit to the "Likes" on facebook not because it builds up somebody's ego, rather it lets "Everyone who reads the post" know that a lot of people like it or not. Obviously if the post has one or two "likes" then it doesn't mean much, but if it has 300 Likes, then maybe it's worth looking at a second time.

This being a forum for one thing only - "Corn Snakes" then the "Like" system probably would not fly, and the Reputation should go to the people that have a good reputation and not just any idiot that trolls and opens their mouth.

Reputation is generally passed about on a personal level. I may "Like" a lot of posts that I read on this website, but I don't know any of you personally, so I don't know anything about your reputation and I won't boost it or decline it if I don't know you.

Although there may be an aftermarket mod available for vBulletin to implement a "like" system for posts, there is nothing in the standard software package for this sort of function. Probably because this software was written long before such a trinket was popular on the web.

There is, however, a thread rating system available that will allow members to vote on an entire thread. I did not implement it because it creates a new column on the screen display, and I was afraid that it might take up more real estate on people's browsers than it was worth. Perhaps this is even more of an issue now that many people are using small screened mobile devices for their internet access needs. This function can be implemented for each separate forum independently of the others. So if you all want me to implement it in a particular forum for a test run, just let me know.

All this recent commenting and pictures of guns and 2nd amendment issues has inspired to go out this morning and purchase yet another "Evil Mechanical Death Machine" to add to my Collection (Arsenal for you Libs).

Since this is an image thread, I can't just ask you what you got, but need to ask for a picture of it, too. :D. Congrats!
