Thou shall have a fishie...

It's Jager time!
In a little dishie
Thou shall have a fishie
Till the fishie dies

Yeah I got some fish... years ago I kept African Cichlids and angelfish and I adored them. A friend of mind loved them so much I gave them away but still visit them! I was seeing him the other week and realised how much I would like a nice aquarium again. Sooo home came the 2ft tank and other equipment needed for a small saltwater setup. It's been running for a few days now and awaiting my reserved pair of clown fish (or as my little brother calls them, DVD fish). I need to wait a few more weeks before anything can go in it.

I also bought a little 21 litre tank to keep fancy goldfish. I have kept commons, commets and fantails before. After the reccomended two days of running and water conditioning I bought the first fishie today. The best store around just got black moors and stunning calico orandas, unfortunately they just arrived so its more than a week of quarantine before he will sell them. Impatient me went with a Japanese Shubunkin. I know I won't be able to keep the likes of fantails or moors with these kind of goldfish soooo it's a great excuse to set up a couple of fancy goldfish tanks! Heres the appropriately named splish  I'm thinking of a commet to add in a week or so.

I'd love to see anyone elses fish tanks :)

Get him a buddy! Goldfish are social creatures you know ;)
With having delt with so many...less than intelligent people I have to ask for my own knowledge. You realize a tropical tank is different than a salt water tank right? Sorry I just have to ask, I deal with so many bumbling idiots every day at work (fish department) that I can't stop myself from asking.
But yay! Congrats on starting up your tanks again.
I have mostly bettas so my tanks are as followed:
1 10gallon
1 4 gallon
1 2.5 gallon
1 2 gallon
2 1 gallon.

I have like...all bettas can you tell?
Can't wait to see pictures!

I will be getting a couple more for that tank... but Ill wait at least a week between introducing more stock. And I have to shop around for the perfect fishies!!!

And of course I know the differences :p I have had a few decent aquarium setups in my time ;)

EDIT, I just realised I typed tropical instead of salt in my first post LOL... I now see why you asked the question. I was talking about the angels and thought ohhhh tropical!

Elle are you cycling the tanks with fish or chemicals? I used a nitrgen starter for my tank so the filters matured quicker.
My tanks impossible to get good pictures of because of the blackwater extract, but here's a couple of attempts for you. I think I may have to try a bit harder

I had to ask to make myself feel better. I get soooo many customers "ok and we'll get two nemo's and some mollies an--" Me "Ma'am you *do* realize "nemo" is a saltwater fish yes?" them"...oh...really?!"
Apparently no one actually watched that movie to realize they lived in the OCEAN! GWAR!!!

Oh duh tank pics!

My 10 gallon:

4 Gallon:

1 gallon next to the 10 gallon and the two gallon on the right:

2.5 gallon:

And the other 1 gallon is just a critter keeper like the white one.

Corny noob, those are the teeny weenyist tanks ever! How sweet!!

Janine, I used chemicals.

Heh tis the curse of the bettas. Because if I get them all 10 gallon tanks then I'm going to be tempted to fill them with more than one fish, like I did with my community tank. Not to mention some bettas don't tolerate tank mates, so I think it would drive me nuts if I had 6 5-10 gallons all with just one fish!

I've been trawling through my fishy photos, and they are embarrassingly bad! I'll try to get some better ones, but don't hold your breath. 98% of them show Igor the mutant chasing the other fish away from the glass just as I've lined up a shot

Hee hee true! I have never kept bettas... don't really have a clue about them :p I do know they aint called fighting fishies for nothing though ;)

Oh and I can't believe I haven't said this yet but, I absolutly love shubunkins, they're my favorite of the fancies!
Question though, 21 litres is around 6 gallons yes? Um...not to be annoying but their growth will get stunted in there, especially since just the shubunkin could get to be around 12+inches...

Yep they do live up to their name, they even "flare" at their own reflection!

I have tons of pics at my fingertips, forgive me.

LOL I thought my shots were awful too... I sooo need to step up from my "tourist camera". Can't afford one with the summer in TX coming up though, which is when I would like it most!

Awesome :D
Sorry I'm so paranoid. Working in the fish department has made me a veeery skeptical person.
So wow that really is a very tiny shubunkin then! So cute :)

This is my token fish...also a betta. He's about 3 1/2 years old. I inherited him from my mother. I couldn't remember what she had named him...so he has a few names. Usually, it's Sir Bloop Bloop Mc Looky...hahahaha. I've been calling him Darth Betta alot too though. LOL. He haaates me. He especially hated me when my hair was red. He thought I was anouther betta!

Yay a 3.5year old betta! That means he's being properly taken care of, and they're anywhere from 3months-1yr old when you obtain them from the petstore too.
Looks like a healthy happy boy! :D
