What power feeding can do to your snake.... :-)

He is VERY beautiful, looks like you are quite well equip (nice camera) to take good pictures of him as well.

One thing still concerns me though. I see what looks like a fresh poop next to him eating that last mouse. Was that his first poop since his last meal? If so that could be dangerous. Wait until you see a poop in his enclosure, then perhaps wait a day or so more so he's out exercising in between feedings.

I guess it's not quite as dangerous as this would be if your snake was female. Females need really strong belly muscles so they don't experience egg binding problems. Males need to be healthy too though!
 
you are braver than I...our 18 inch corns only get 2 medium pinkies at each feeding every 5 days, I am worried they'd choke on anything much bigger. That hopper looks huge:eek1:

Bubble = Amel (female --> maybe gravid now)
New addition - Leman = Lemon pastel ball phyton

A don't worry about his hunger...he's not starving, he's just looking for a way out...lol...I found my hatchling the same way...always cruising, looking for a way out..lol...but now that he is a few months older, he is settled, all comfy in his home :)

LOL Just wait until he gets to be breeding age and then he'll go back to cruising again... this time looking for a female :)


Welcome Shakeyhands to the forum. I have to say that the wifey looks more comfortable with the snake than the daughter does :) We turn around fast :)

It's a bit hard to tell from a birds eye view, but I agree that she looks better. Would getting a belly shot and other photos from different angles be an option? I'd like to be able to compare. :)

And your BP has a wonderful pattern.
 
I have to say you've done very well, Buttercup looks MUCH better now and sounds like he has more energy too!:)keep up with the updates.

Even though I have a pair of beautiful lemon pastel ball phyton now, this guy really knows how to attract my attention.....

I dont think anyone answered your question on breeding age and weight for males. In general, the same rule applies for males and females. 3 years old, 3 feet long, and 300 grams. For a male I think a lot of people are willing to breed them slightly before this point. It depends on the owner and the snake.

I think its safe to say that no male corn can be bred before 2 years. If at two years old the snake is a good size, then he may very well be ready to breed. I would bet if your guy is at 180 grams at a year old he will be mature by 2 years.

Thanks tbtusk for the information.... anybody knows what morph do I need to mate my buttercup in order to have butter motley hatchling? Of course butter motley with butter motley will do... but down here, very difficult to find other butter motley.... everybody goes for amel...
 
well, I Think ..... butter = amel and caramel so.... if that is true.... if you got a amel motley het for caramel or butter.... should do, yes??

btw.... you said you powerfed him?? (sorry, I didnt read the Whole thread :) ) but at a year old and 180 grams... to me IMHO, that sounds about right. I dont power feed mine and they are about the same size :) I think he is beautiful and nicely shaped. Not fat or having any 'hips' :)
 
This was a very interesting thread to read. Your snakes are gorgeous. What *I* want to see are more photos of your home! I looks absolutely beautiful from what I see in the photos. :)

LOL... My house is equivalent of a pigeon hole occupied by 5 human..... it is so small that we plan to move out end of this year....but my wife is good in decorating the interior....

I powerfed him in the beginning.... gave him pinkies every 2 days...but reading the advice given in this forum, I feed him on 5~7 days schedule..... more on the 7 days schedule... but if he got smaller mice, I feed him on 5 days schedule.....

I own an female amel... and now in breeding process with another amel of my snake keeping friend. Another friend got my buttercup sibling but not sure the sex. If I'm correct, there are only 3 butter motley in Malaysia including my buttercup. All 3 are sibling....
