In order to NOT start a flame war, I won't use one religion, but here goes...
I was once told by a Sunday school teacher that to not be "of the faith",
is to worship Satan. I was then asked "Are you " of the faith?"
I was 5 years old. (Interestingly, I was later asked not to come back to this Sunday school.)
I once went to a lecture given by members of a certain large religious group that helps those in need. They were soliciting funds, for there Charity.
They explained how they had given a motor boat to a "native" man, in exchange for his help, getting supplies to and from the encampment. When I asked, if they had trained the man on proper care and maintenance of the motor boat, they said No. :shrugs: (Not much help there is it?) What happens when the encampment is abandoned? How does he get parts for the boat?
Later in the discussion, I asked, what of the religious beliefs of the "natives" They told me that, they ONLY offer help, to those in need, if the one in need will denounce whatever religious beliefs they have, and become followers "of the faith".
Doesn't really sound like help, does it?
The Holy Bible changes, depending on what version you read, and how it is interpreted, by the "new" author. So if this is true, then is it God's scripture that we revere, or something else ??
This does not sit well with me. It is not someone elses responsibility, to tell me what to believe, it is my own. God's word should be GOD'S WORD. Not God's word, as translated by Joe Shmo.
For those that don't believe the bible changes version to version, just do an internet search, you will see.
(I know it seems hard to believe, that in this day and age some people still do not know this.)
These are just my opinions. Take it all with a large grain of salt.:uhoh:
